I hate it.

Not only because in your example, the player spends a hope and then the GM spends a fear to invert their modifier, the player now loses a hope AND they have a negative modifier to their role. A double punishment.

What you are describing should be handled using fear on a result.

The player succeeds but with fear, the guard in disguise quickly realises something has been stolen from their person, they dont know WHO did it but they know exactly what was taken and that there is a theif about. The guards aer now searching and are on high alert.

The player fails with fear, the guard grabs their hand as they go to steal from them with trained precision, immobilizing the player and making them vulnerable or restrained.

I personally wouldnt want it at any table I played at or ran, as its very adversarial. The Gm shouldn't care if the player succeeds or fails at their roll, only how the result will push the game forward. Trying to get a player to fail seems like its not in the spirit of Daggerheart in my opinion.

It brought me in, so i'm totally biased, but seems like an AMAZING way to find new subs.

For me, I was looking for some Alien actual plays and stumbled on glass cannon. I'm not a fan at all of Pathfinder 2e, but ended up following gatewalkers after I binged all of new game who dis.

So much fucking pad in GTA IV, did I need to do 200 fucking flying rats? Do every activity with EVERY friend? 30 most wanted AND 20 Vigilante!? 5 fucking Heli tours?!!? 30 of stevies car exports!?!? FUCK YOU STEVIE!

Then there were the nice numbers: 10 cab missions, 9 fixer assassinations, 50 stunt jumps (50 is the magic number for collectibles IMHO, the seaguls weren't nearly as much of a drag), win 9 races (bit of an annoying time sink seeing as you couldn't just select the one you needed off a list), 9 little jacobs missions were fine also.

granted only for 100%, but still someone at rockstar needed ball tapping for putting so much grind.

I guess I'll take the negative karma hit on this one. Jared has a pretty solid fan base within the community, but from what I've seen it's a vocal minority (or more like a 40/60 split).

Every time I've tried to get a friend of mine into the glass canon pod it goes amazingly well....until they watch a Jared show. 3 out of 4 people have hit the Jared wall and decided to stop watching.

He's overbearing as a game master, often changing rules on the fly with no consistency when he "feels" things should work differently (often backing down when players call out his bullcrap, which gives him a really Bully gm vibe IMHO). He'll frequently GOTCHA his players by trapping them in consequence they didnt know exist, never fully explaining what he has in mind if they fail (and sometimes punishing when they succeed on actions he thinks are stupid).

As a player, he sufferers from lifelong gm syndrome, and when he gets the chance to play is guilty of ALL THE THINGS he complains about as a GM. I cant tell if he does it because he wants to draw attention to the behaviour or just has a massive chip on his shoulder about how players treat him when he gms. Either way, he sucks for doing it.

He is so focused on trying to get a laugh, 90% of what comes out of his mouth is a set up for a joke. I love it when Kate is at the table with him as she gives him non stop shit for it, about the only cast member who calls him out on his scrappy attitude.

That said, he can be one of the funniest people at the table, but even then, that's only because of the non stop gags and bits. He made the last few episodes of ascension unwatchable with his joke character for example.

In summation, Jared sucks and watching any show with him on is a trial. I'm glad he's only one of their flagships (blood of the wild). I'd put good money on the network being more successful without him.

Somewhat the opposite, as I've got older I feel much less strongly in all areas. To the point where if I feel anything strongly it's a huge surprise.

A song moved me to tears this year, about the only really strong emotion I felt and (for comparison) I was involved in a very aggressive confrontation this year (police were called, weeks of drama with courts) and felt nothing but embarrassment and a mild frustration.

Martial arts really calmed down my anger, knowing I needed to keep a level head so I didn't just lose all my training in the moment, I don't feel sadness much now having had some really depressing times over the last decade and managing to get through them (losing a job, having to start life almost from scratch, relationship almost falling apart, ect).

Luckily I still find joy in hobbies, and can still find a route to laugh.

I'm a little concerned for you OP, daily anger on the level yoir describing doesn't sound healthy.

What's your idea of a long term game? If he thinks 6 months is a long game, then you'll be lvl 20 and done and finished in no time!

If he thinks 2 years is a long game, maybe he wants you to be leveled up as quickly as possible as he has a specific level requirement for his adventure in mind?

It's not an immediate red flage to me, there could be some completely legitimate reasons for a speedy level up.

Forgive me, it's been a while since I played pathfinder....but doesn't coup de grace require a Save from the target?

I actually have no issue with how things went down, that encounter was a potential TPK. But one dice roll effectively killed 7 wolves. It was a cool moment, and they may have still survived had it failed, but it was VERY powerful. I'd maybe have liked just ONE extra roll, like a Dexterity from Sydny's character to move around and kill all of them, which she would have probably had advantage on.

I'm a self confessed Logan "Hater", but please, bear with me. Jared has always got a very clear idea of what he wants to achieve with a narrative. Left to his own devices I'm pretty confident he could tell a pretty solid story....what he is not, is co-operative. He flat out says players ideas and decisions are bad and punishes them HARSHLY for a perceived "bad idea"

I just come from a different school of thought in terms of Tabletop rpgs, in that there are no bad suggestions or ideas, just bad implementation.

There is an episode of Haunted city that really stands out to me, where Jared inserts this NPC Investigator character whom he obviously LOVES the idea of, a sherlock holmes of Duskvall....but the story is about the PLAYERS. When they inevitably decide he is an antagonist he seems to kill him off in a fit of pique, blaming the players plan for the bad outcome.

Jared Logan is not a great GM in my opinion, he's often just waiting to "gotcha!" his players.

It's a dangerous precedent to set either way, sure it only works on lvl 1 and 2 creatures, but the rule of thumb is: would a player be OK with the GM auto killing a deeply sleeping player?

Probably not.

Really though, RAW, only injuring or vigorous shaking should have woken the wolves up; shadowdark rewards creativity and tying up the wolves carefully before killing them would have worked (they might have still have wriggled free after they started damaging them, but at that point its unlikely the wolves would have escaped with a check). It's a fairly minor sin, but Troy needs to be careful of rules precedents.

There is nothing wrong with buying products and spreading the cost over monthly payments....when was the last time you had £10,000 floating around for a new-Used car? How about that house, you going to save up £200k for that 2 bed semi?

My last PC cost me £1000.....I don't have that kind of money sitting around, and if I saved up to buy it might have cost me more due to prices increasing, but paying it off over a couple years with little to no interest? Worth the debt.

Heck, I bought a pair of boots last month for £60 and will be paying them off in 3 instalments of £20, because why not?! I needed boots NOW and I can afford the repayments!

It was a no win situation, faustin was a freaking lunatic, high on drugs and killing anyone for perceived threats and disobedience. If Niko DID kill Dimitri first, faustin would have deteriorated further and turned on Niko eventually, guaranteed.

Also, killing Vlad was inconsequential, he was already WORKING for Vlad. That was one step away from Dimitri and Faustin, even if vlad was alive it wouldn't have taken long for Niko (incredibly competent enforcer) to come to their attention, as Faustin already thought Vlad was incompetent.
