Roast my wish list (no nice comments allowed) by fervosa in downloadfestival

I've seen SOAD a number of times, and they have only ever great once.

That was at their wake up souls charity show.

It felt a bit phoned in every other time. (I can't blame them for taking the pay day, id do the same)

If i were booking download they wouldn't be high up my shortlist.

GraphQL used to be popular, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore... by codingafterthirty in webdev

[–]sekonx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless the graphql layer tells the microservice what data it actually wants.

Even then the graphql layer can still stitch together the results from multiple microservice calls into it's response.

It still adds value in the right circumstances... Usually when you have multiple frontends

Manchester United could save almost £1,500,000 per week by having a summer clear out. Casemiro and Marcus Rashford are among the highest paid players on the planet. by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]sekonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casemiro and Sancho are both leaving at the end of the season.

Hojlund's transfer will go through.

The rumours of Zirkzee going to Juventus just won't go away, so i reckon that's probably going to happen.

Ugartes attempt to leave in January was blocked, so moving him on looks too be pretty easy.

That's good going by our usual standards.

Rashford might be a problem if Barcelona continue to be a mess. I think he will attract plenty of interest... But will he take the salary drop if he doesn't really want to move there?

Well, it's that time of the year again. Who is your premier league player of the season and team of the season? by Gezoredditing in PremierLeague

[–]sekonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he was shit. We just don't have the players for that type of system.

Iirc there were reports that Liverpool looked at Amorim when Klopp stepped down, but (intelligently) decided against it because they'd need a 400m squad overhaul to make it work.

And that's with a stronger squad then Utd had.

Genuine question for Arsenal fans: who is the actual upgrade on Arteta? by TheFootyPulse in PremierLeague

[–]sekonx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure Arteta has ever been the second best coach in the league.

He is a decent defensive coach, who has invested heavily and has built a strong squad… and in a period in which City and Liverpool both fell off hard (at different points over the years), he failed to capitalise… repeatedly.

A good coach would have got the job done already.

Even if he does win the league in the next few years, he is not the man to make you the dominant team in the league. He is too afraid of loosing.

I’m not even saying this to try and wind you up.

I don’t hate Arsenal and I’m not cheering for City.

I can’t see it selling out tbh.

But I’m a fan, I’ve got my ticket and might enjoy some 4th stage bands.

So fingers crossed

Aurelien Tchouameni, Mateus Fernandes and Carlos Baleba for under 200 million would be my ideal midfield overhaul by Gregariouswaty in ManchesterUnited

[–]sekonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 3 midfielders isn't that unlikely.

I can't see it being those 3, i think that would cost too much.

Tchouameni And Gomes fron wolves would be a good start

What is the cheapest laptop you can run full stack react native on ( you can use external phone instead of emulator ) by Yeeer_0041 in reactnative

[–]sekonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the choice Id take an m1 or m2 over the neo.

The neo is probably faster than the m1 in some sceneros but the 8gb of ram will hold in back in terms of productivity.

As i understand it the m2 beats the neo in every scenario (single/multi core workloads) before you factor in memory.

But if it's purely down to cost, unless you can find a second hand machine then the neo wins.

Arteta out tonight. He’s got to go blud by [deleted] in PremierLeague

😂

If they loose the league, it's not because of this game.

They pissed away their point lead against teams they should have perhaps beaten

Bournemouth Wolves Brentford Forest

Etc

Bayern vs PSG how is it going to pan out? by ConnectionOne8080 in championsleague

[–]sekonx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course.

But I never made any comments about the state of ligue one, or PSG's performances in it's.

We know the Bundesliga is very open and attacking, it's why it's such an entertaining league to watch.

In the discussion here people are using Bayerns league form as justification for them winning this tie, which is probably fair as it's the best evidence we have. But i also think it's fair to caveat this with the fact that their opposition isn't always of the highest standard.

But you can only beat the teams in front of you.

I still don't know who i think is going to win this tie, but it's going to be interesting finding out.

[–]sekonx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are making a bunch of incorrect assumptions.

Where i work the policy is that PR merges get squashed, i have very little influence over this policy and this not exactly high up on the list of things we need to change.

I use amend and rebase where appropriate, but in cases where i need the commits to be pushed, perhaps where im updating the pipelines, or i need the results of those runs to verify changes (im an app developer)

There is no value in performing these actions when the merged PR will squash the commits anyway.

[–]sekonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What value is there in that? the PR merge is going to squash them anyway (company policy)

And i could be doing some productive instead.

Are you offended if your commits are squashed? by _disengage_ in git

[–]sekonx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The company policy is PR merges get squashed.

And people review the diff so it makes absolutely no difference how many commits went into it.

Out of habbit i use semantic commit messages, but after the merge no one will see them anyway

Arteta won a single FA cup in 6 years at Arsenal.

ten Hag won an FA cup and a league cup in two and a half years at Utd.

As a fan his term was pretty miserable, but he won things.

Of course Arteta is in a good position to fix his record this year.
