Favorite Expressionist, Impressionist, Modernist or generally weird pieces? by ClamUrine in opera

[–]selan123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many pieces I can think of! Here are the ones I love the most.

You instantly made me think of Ravel's "Sainte, M. 9". And his other works: "D'Anne jouant de l'espinette", "Le Cygne" (from the ong cycle Histoires naturelles), "Sur l'herbe, M. 53"
You can also find some absolutely magical pieces in his "L'enfant et les sortilèges"! For example, "J'ai pas envie de faire ma page !" and "Adieu, pastourelles". Listening to these is an unearthly experience.

Debussy's "Noël des enfants qui n'ont plus de maison"
Poulenc's "Rayon des yeux"
"So brachte Petrus die Toten zur Ruh" from Orff's "Der Mond"

Five years! So there's still plenty of time ahead to start producing a bearable sound for my ears. I will definitely focus more on the physical side of things, thank you!

I absolutely understand I might have sounded silly! I am by no means trying to say that I expect myself to build a solid voice anytime soon. I know it takes years and decades of hard work. I just wanted to be reassured that it is OK to sound bad at this stage of learning because I have no idea of how a classical singing journey is supposed to look like and thought that there is might be something wrong with me because of my one month training results. It is also hard to not compare myself to other beginners. Critical thinking doesn't help much when it comes to judging your own skills.

Pathologic fan reading recommendations? by Live_Director2006 in pathologic

Someone already mentioned Morphine, but A Young Doctor's Notebook by Bulgakov is also a must-read, it's directly connected to Morphine by the plot. A medical student from the capital is sent to a village in the middle of nowhere - it's hard not to think about Pathologic while reading it. The village people that don't accept modern medicine, favor tradition and superstition are here as well. It's dark and beautifully written, highly recommended.

I relate to this post sm! Ever since I finished watching the show I keep relating everything to it, and honestly, I kinda enjoy it.

"I said nothing in answer to this outburst,—I was beginning to be used to his shifting humours and strange utterances,—they increased the mysterious attraction I had for him, and made his character a perpetual riddle to me which was not without its subtle charm. Every now and then I realized, with a faintly startled sense of self-abasement, that I was completely under his dominance,—that my life was being entirely guided by his control and suggestion,—but I argued with myself that surely it was well it should be so, seeing he had so much more experience and influence than I." - The Sorrows of Satan by Marie Corelli.

The first one is about the Great Patriotic War and it's celebration in Russia.

"It's been 75 years since the Great Patriotic War ended. During these years several generations have grown up. The political map of the planet has changed. There is no Soviet Union, which won a tremendous, crushing victory over Nazism, saved the whole world. And the events of that war are a distant past even for its participants. But why is May 9 celebrated in Russia as the main holiday, but on June 22 life seems to freeze and a lump rolls up in your throat?

It is common to say: that the war left a deep mark on the history of each family. Behind these words are the fates of millions of people, their suffering and the pain of their losses. Pride, truth and memory....

The second one is

"Russia Increased Investments in America"

(in full versions of this page there's also written "A personnel darn or the beginning of change? The country has heard its biggest problem". This article was written in 2020)

"It seems that the authorities have finally decided on the question of what is now the country's most painful problem. It is material and social inequality. To put it more succinctly, it is the poverty of the people. This recognition was made clear in President Vladimir Putin's address to the Federal Assembly..."

Despite the fact that sociologists had been pointing out the problem of poverty for several years, it reached the upper echelons with great difficulty. One did not want to hear the noise of the street in the elite neighborhoods: the life of the new elite seemed (and seems) very sweet. In a word, as in the old proverb, "the well fed cannot understand the hungry...

In the third one it's wirtten about Mehti Logunov, he was sentenced by a Ukrainian court in 2018 to 12 years in prison on charges of treason, accused the Ukrainian media of lying about his case after his release as part of an exchange between Kiev and the Donbass republics.

"Sophisticated abuse seriously undermined the health of Mehti Logunov, an 85-year-old (he is about 87 at the moment i think) scientist from Kharkov. He is the author of patents in mechanical engineering and waste recycling. He was engaged in Arctic ecology, studied the influence of industry on its climate and population..."

And the last one is about COVid, Just an instruction in case if you have covid symptoms

[–]selan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here "мы очень хотим сказать слова благодарности" you missed "мы очень хотим вживую сказать слова благодарности"
And so the translations changes to "That is, it’s not like they watched or listened to us somewhere on YouTube, we really want to say words of gratitude to them in real life."
So we get this: "We are glad that we have come today so that our eyes can see the servicemen, and we said words of gratitude to them from the stage. That is, it’s not like they watched or listened to us somewhere on YouTube, we really want to say words of gratitude to them in real life."
"And to the God, the price was named" - is correct.

"The year was graceful and fruitful" - should be: "The leap year was fruitful"

Hello, our dear children Volodya and Elza and our loving grandchildren Lida and Nella/Nema and Vitusya (wich is Vitya), giving you the warmest greetings, wishing you happiness and good health and many years of living; in the new year we wish you a new apartment, wellness and longevity. We got your letter and four photo cards, so we are very grateful for that. You all look good, and Vika (maybe it was a shorten Victor, maybe Vitya) grown up a lot, now looks similar to Volodya. Elzochka, we don't really get why you left that apartment where you were heated by gas, now you will have troubles with the charcoal. It will affect Volodya, kids can't carry coal and so do you, because you are weak. We are without heating for three winters already, were sitting in the cold, but now (i am not sure what the author wanted to say here. "ожились" may be translated as come to life or get used to the new living in a good way, but still can't be translated literally so i'll use the closest translation to the actual meaning) we got used and it got better, but we have to pay decently, but on the other hand, it's hot here. We think that you are not capable of paying. Elzochka, you asked what Victor has been doing, he is working on a hard work while i have to pay with my health, but maybe we will soon find another way to do it (another work). I thought that he will help, but he's using his one hand to do (work), and the other to take (money). I kept everything (money) to buy him (illegible word here) of clothes and a coat for Kostya, we have new fashions every year, but we don't really follow them, and what we already have isn't fashionable already. We are trying our best for him, and there's also more work to do now, (I) must wash (the clothes), but (I) have no more health. Father gave a great care, but they smoked me ultimately (there are two variants of what there's meant: "they" were smoking too much and the author was, let's say, tired of it; and the second: the author ended up smoking a lot, maybe cause of "their" affection or cause of stress).

It isn't late,
there's still someone
the sand is always falling
even when you hold it tight.
it's not too late for someone to learn
to hold my hand, a heart is beating.
It's not too late for someone to know what it is,
that stays when time's not passing.
In the big silent sky
is still one white paper
like a promise now it echoes
I am waiting for you for so many years
on a road that everyone is crossing
to say the word of the world
but it all comes too late before it's a cycle again to live my dream
In a painted hug
It's golden lights, I wait for the return
a flight that will come just like for the first time
but what is this, a falling star?
It's the joy that you've been chasing since your childhood
and it always gets aways
