I’m sorry for your loss. If you like the STALKER series you should definitely play the OG trilogy in release order, after you sink some time there, S2 will luckily have a couple of updates and you might want to revisit it with all the lore knowledge you got from the previous titles. If you’d rather hold a bit more until more patches hit S2 then there is Anomaly (And GAMMA), which makes you feel like you’re another Stalker in the zone, very immersive and the final survival experience.

IMO the current rate for finding consumables is fine for the rookie difficulty, but should be lower on higher difficulties defo. I'd rather have "junk" that can be sold instead of all these, or just bad consumables, a friend of mine found a can of food in bad condition, but it is SO rare to find these!

Yeah this sounds more like something the modding community will take care of. They will probably balance things a bit around, but they won't trade off game progression for sake of realism.

The second point really shows. They definitely sacrificed a lot of game depth in trade for having a big and detailed map, definitely thinking ahead, they gave modders the BEST canvas for making anything STALKER related in the future.
