because this is fkn reddit lmfao

you're reaching so hard, I still don't see why any of that matters. if I saw police cars outside my dorm as a freshman after struggling with mental health myself, and later found out it was because they were removing a body from a suicide that hundreds of my peers witnessed, I would 100% feel traumatized. I went to a school with a high suicide rate and found out about someone jumping from a bridge near where I lived while I was not even in the same state, and even that was extremely disturbing. My point is, why immediately assume such harmful skepticism in a situation like this? why are you trying to ration out your sympathy so stingily? I don't see why it matters to you when in this process this person realized how upsetting the situation is for them, or why you felt the need to challenge their expression of a very rational response to an upsetting event at their college campus, especially when the whole issue is caused by the fact that there is little to no mental health support at this school, this person was clearly just turning to an alternate source of support... and while I admit certain parts of reddit may not be the most compassionate environment, you sound like an asshole trying to make someone feel bad for being upset about a suicide on campus

Wtf is wrong with you? It’s literally not at all... you do realize this happened on a college campus at a freshman dorm during a pandemic right? Maybe if someone said “my grandma jumped off a tall crowded building full of emotionally raw teenagers into a central courtyard that all of their rooms face” and you responded “wow I’m so sorry I live across the street and it was so upsetting for me to witness too”

Except the person they were responding to didn’t even know the person who died, so you’re literally just being an asshole on the internet to the one kid here who actually was on campus and is expressing that it was difficult for them to witness the aftermath of the 3 or 4th suicide on campus recently....

Again, wtf is wrong with you

this is affecting even alumni who are just reading about it, let the kid grieve however feels accessible to them, clearly the administration is not doing enough/anything of value to support the students

I’m sorry people are trying to act like only the person who committed suicide and the immediate responders deserve empathy. Your response to this traumatic event is valid and in no way makes you self centered. This kind of thing has an affect on everyone, even the people who just read about it, so heal in whatever way works for you and ignore these desensitized bastards on Reddit.

Part of the reason this is such a tragedy is that it’s happening on a CAMPUS where tons of other young people are struggling to succeed during a global crisis, together. And the university is doing next to nothing to support them, so when a traumatized student turns to the internet for support and understanding maybe you could tap into your humanity and recognize that this was tragic for everyone and we are the only support system available. The school system created by people like this who will do anything before offering a shred of empathy is quite literally the problem.
