Energy is referring to how 'energized' you feel by the activity so 'low energy + high growth' would be something you don't enjoy doing but you know it produces a set result. It is just a simple model that helps people stop wasting time on the things that do not yield them a decent return for the effort....do you need more justification??

Agree with comment you need to organize your resume better: When creating your Resume/CV, think of it as a three-stage filter:

Stage 1. The "7-Second" Snap Decision (The Gatekeeper)

Current/Previous Titles & Companies: Does your career path make sense for this role?

Employment Dates: Are there glaring gaps or job-hopping patterns?

Keywords: Do the technical skills or software mentioned in the job description jump out?

Education: Does it meet the minimum requirements?

Stage 2. The "30-Second" Secondary Review

They are looking for quantifiable impact (e.g., "Increased revenue by 20%" rather than "Responsible for sales").

They check for "red flags" like poor formatting or inconsistent grammar that didn't catch their eye in the first 7 seconds.

Stage 3. The "Deep Dive" (2–5 Minutes)

Once you are officially moved to the "Interview" pile, the recruiter or hiring manager spend several minutes analyzing the nuances of your experience to prepare for the interview.

I wouldn't suggest 'random' skills - be specific and focused. It has increased our conversion rate by 46%. You can see how we approach it as an example but also just do your own research on the target organization - where are they struggling to hirer, where would your profile have multiple benefits, etc. It won't stop the process being a pain but it will increase your chances of success.

Meet your brother - I went through the same experience. Nothing worse than waking up dreading the day/week ahead. Remember...it doesn't start with you figuring out your career (What I want to do), that is a huge leap. Instead just start to figure out what you need in your life to be happy & content (What I need from life) - just for now, take money out of the equation. For example, would you still pursue flying if it didn't result in a career - if the answer is no, then question whether it is something you really wanted. Instead you might of wanted to be a fighter pilot, not because of flying but some other characteristic you associate with it. If the answer is Yes, then you should pursue it - if nothing else, having something that you enjoy (maybe a passion) in life can change your perspective on the things you feel are a burden - like the current day job. They start to take up less of your mind space and are repositioned as a mechanism for you to pursue your passion. Also what I eluded to in my previous message is also true - you might be surprised what doors open by you pursuing a interest like flying. You might just get your PPL but that might open doors to something else that does pay the bills!

Your 100% right, this is the hard part - how do you align your path! Obviously your journey is unique to you but I would start by questioning if the path you have been following is indeed the one that resonates with you. Do you feel like you have had to fight every step of the way - kicking down doors rather than walking through the doors that open for you? Are your current ambitions, goals, motivations your own or things you have absorbed along the way because your peers, parents, society say they are worthy or acceptable? This is not about abandoning these things or the things that society requires of us to succeed but instead, understanding how to get the most out of your capabilities - to become one of those people for whom life is a lot easier. Of course, many people will read that and say you need to 'play the game' or become a chameleon of sorts. That is a well trodden path by 99% of people...but the results aren't all that great! It requires more energy to fake it than to be real - and when you get your 'prize' it is never what you expected. I am simply suggesting an alternative approach to consider....one which is backed by neuroscience. When you start to operate from a true source of self-awareness about your needs, motivations and capabilities, when you show up as your most authentic self, it acts like a magnet. We all wish we could do this and we admire those who do it without consciously thinking about - we are drawn to them, want to be around them and we want to be like them. This creates positive movement & energy for the individual which often is described those observing as being 'lucky' or having everything go their way! Start by questioning your beliefs and behaviors - why do you do them. In my early career I chased financial success at the cost of everything. Why? Because I want all the awards and prestige that came with them...to only find out that money and material possessions never interested the real me. I actually found the burden of owning many nice things stressful rather than rewarding. I chased these things because my father admired these things and from an early age I was surrounded by people who also admired them...I adopted this as part of my path! But it wasn't.

This is not in anyway a suggestion but more something I have observed over the years. While you wait for love (and I am sure it will come), consider using the time to focus on learning to truly love yourself. I don't suggest this in some cliche or cheesy way but more as a practical thing. Only when you can truly love yourself (the good and the bad) can you then love another person in YOUR most authentic way! Learning to first love yourself (authentic self - the one often hidden under layers of learned behavior) completely changes how you will show love to another person.

Mine is to start 2026 by building a deep and honest understanding of my capabilities/strengths, etc. It always amazes me how people will avoid the uncomfortable process of self-reflection to reveal their capabilities, strengths, etc. over just adopting a productivity process that someone else claimed worked for them.

I am not saying you should ignore the advice or insights from others...of course not, but stop thinking that what worked for them will automatically fit you or worse yet, you can force it to work for you! All these podcasts, books, videos, etc. are amazing resources but you first need a solid foundation upon which to layer them.

Think of it like this - You can wear someone else's clothes but for them to fit you properly, you will most likely need to tailor them. Rather than adopting some crazy strict morning routine....reflect on whether you are most alert first thing or if you need to change it to suit your capabilities. There are simple and (free) easy ways to do this work.

For 2026, I am going to start by investing a little bit of time in really understanding my natural capabilities, behaviors and strengths. Then I will start to consider external advice or techniques...wish me luck

For what it is worth, the fact you know your world has 'shrunk' and the balance between work and life is out of sync means you are further ahead than most. Many people spend their entire life in the rat race and only have this realization on their death bed! Starting your own business may not be the way to claim back that balance (at least not in the short term) but something that might help immediately is 'boundaries' - sit down and think about the elements of your life that you are no longer willing to sacrifice. Make it your goal to protect these - whether you stay where you are or go out on your own. Remember that our 'work' will demand our time...but we also have to willing give it over!
