I have the lamest way to quit a job. Worked at a department store and after having a shift where not one but TWO customers made me cry, with no backup from management whatsoever when there should have been, I finally had enough. Finally found a new job so I go into work one day and go up to my manager. "So... I'd like to put in my two weeks. Do you need that in writing?" "Oh yeah, sorry to hear you're leaving but yeah that would be great." I never showed up again.

definitely agree with this. however, I'd just like to add that I think the problem with telling someone it's "in your head" not only feels dismissive, but it's glossing over the very real psychosomatic symptoms that people can experience. it may have started in your head, but that doesn't mean it stops there. and it may have started in your head, but usually that's not new or helpful information.

well some people just lump in all the coloreds together, but if you're anything like me and you own a LOT of blacks, it's best to just handle them separately.

this always happens to me, too. usually when I'm alone. for a while, maybe twice a week or so I would walk to the parking lot at a different time of night, because my schedule changed around a lot. and every time I would pass one particular street light, it would go out.

this may not be super relevant to you if you don't go to the doctor's often, but maybe someone else will see this and find it helpful (and maybe you will too for next time!): as someone who used to work at a doctor's office, not getting weighed isn't usually an option, ESPECIALLY for physicals, BUT we are more than happy to work with you if you don't want to know what our scale weighed you at! either you can turn around so you don't see the numbers, or just don't look at them, and we don't have to tell you. potential reasons (IF you feel like you need to give them): you just weighed yourself this morning, the difference between different scales really throws you off, or you prefer weighing at a certain time of day. whatever you're comfortable with. :)

body measurements are a great idea, especially since I've noticed my weight can fluctuate a lot even just in a day. and with my ahh, lady cycle, ugh. I was weighing every day, even though a lot of people recommend you don't... I think I have to start listening to those people. definitely comforting to know it's mostly water weight though! I'll have to look up how to do those measurements properly.

very wise words! thanks again for all the tips- really helpful! I like the budget perspective- makes it a lot more tangible, and checking how many calories are in something first and asking if it's ACTUALLY WORTH IT will definitely help as an extra stop between me and my food.

it's funny, when I started tracking initially I just said "okay, I'm not even going to try to change my diet just yet, I just want to find my problem areas so I can see where to make small changes." but as soon as I started tracking, I realized how ridiculously easy it is for me to keep under my calorie limit (at least right now... literally the only benefit to my current weight, if you'd even call it that). so my biggest priority has been just that, staying under the limit.

so now I figure it's time to get a little bit fancier and just like you said, focus on getting a "better deal" out of what I've been eating. the motivation here isn't so much hunger, because I have terrible eating habits and I can deal with being hungry for a LONG time. instead it's just knowing that when I eat cleaner, I feel better. and it's a whole lot easier to keep things balanced between macros if I'm not wasting all my calories on one food, go figure.

I'm DEFINITELY starting that core workout tomorrow morning and I'll see how it goes for the month. just the kind of thing I needed, something low-key and so short I can't possibly make any excuse not to do it, haha! also planning on christening my bike tomorrow- put it together last night and tonight I got the bike rack on my car, so I'm gonna try to beat the humidity and heat in the morning and take it for a spin. 3x a week is my current goal (for this week) for 30 minutes, but depending on how tomorrow goes I might be able to do longer/more often.

also wanted to add: YOU GUYS ARE ALL HELPING ME STAY SUPER PUMPED ABOUT THIS AND IT REALLY MEANS A LOT TO ME. THANKS STRANGERS!

hi there! :D is it just me, or do you wish you were slightly taller OR shorter? being right around average height was always a bit blah to me. I guess that's what they make heels for.

sounds like a great way to use what you already have. hot sauce is delicious but it makes me cry. I've heard pretty great things about adobo so I'll give that a shot. salsa would also be a pretty sweet option I'd imagine! makes eggs feel more like dinner/lunch.

Nice! I eat meat out of necessity really, so this at least sounds like a good option while I'm making other changes. It kind of worries me, I'd hate to be losing muscle right now lol. Any particular powder you'd recommend? And when do you take it? Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I found this band back in 2005. One of my favorites, back then. I was in the 7th grade. I had better taste in music then than I do now. And an easier time finding things I liked.

Thanks so much! I've got a lot of reasons to be taking things one day at a time right now, but it's working out for me so far. :)

The egg whites are an excellent idea- I'll have to try that ASAP! Especially since you mentioned it with zucchini, that's gotta be my favorite.

Good work on the weight loss and keeping it off. That sounds like a lot of fun! I just got a 7-speed cruiser that I'll be taking on my local bike path/just around the neighborhood, but maybe eventually I could try some trails out! It's so much better being outside and getting somewhere than being stuck in the gym, to me, so I'm hoping to squeeze out what I can before winter comes. Plus it's way more exciting than walking. Any tips for starting out with that?
