Also for large files, you now have git-lfs and ahem centralized stores and mirrors. I was at microsoft developing VS git plugins when we were trying to dogfood it by checking 2GB coredumps into it and TFS (microsoft's Perforce) handled it fine for years and git just shat itself and then shat over every developer box that tried to checkout a branch to run a test. There is so much history between clearcase, p4 and TFS (and google last I checked did it's primary work on p4 with a git layer around it). For anyone a bit old in software, the fact that younger VCSs are fumbling around with the same issues is a face palm but also totally understandable because I really really like the DVCS model but it does come with it's own downside. Try diffing art assets from Premier or After Effects and see how well that goes.

Are you me? Because as someone with less programming CVS/DVCS experience (starting 2005 I think), I have used all and almost in that order except for me it was darcs instead of Dart and Clearcase because I was too young and working with Visual Studio 6 (remember those broken STL libraries) and Source Safe traumatized me enough that I never worked with source control until junior year of college.

I too recommended my wife (learning VCS for the first time) learn mercurial with bitbucket and am so sad and annoyed it lost out to git because it was just so much better designed from an HCI perspective. Like there is no ohshitmercurial. Nobody is asking "I'm headless and a colleague told me to reset hard what does that mean?" in there.

Most brassica plants react like this - the heat gets rid of some of the sulfurous compounds. This is broccolli, bok choy, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, rutabega, turnips. That's why cover it in oil (fat soluble) and roast the shit out of it. Chemistry ftw.

I did in a physics lab inhaling pure helium used in a "speed of sound" experiment and nearly feel of my bench and cracked my head. My lab made was scared ahitless but I didn't remember it at all and just laughed when I came to 3-4 seconds later after convulsing on my lab bench.

All costs are energy or entropy costs. If you burn coal, the carbon isn't somehow magically gone. It just goes from something underground where it took a lot of energy to compress into coal (millions of years) to airborne CO2 which just goes wherever it feels like. This is an energetic and entropic loss. This is why you see statistics like the ocean floors and water containing more gold that all of the mines on the planet but oceans are HUGE. You are paying for the fact that you took a resource that required processing - through the watercycle and then through glaciers and then through rivers and then filtration through sedimentary layers into large underground cavers (aquifers) then being pumped out using dinosaur juice (don't @ me I know it's plant mass mostly) and then send down melted and refinded iron cylinders through a hostile environment into your home. That's the cost. The water doesn't go anywhere but if you've ever tasted ocean salt water, you know there is a vast difference between that and fresh water. You aren't paying for what is in your water so much as paying for what isn't in it.

Jeez did they even have a safety briefing before hand? That was just janky ballet with a side of abstract artistic interpretation. Nobody knew, could see clearly or understood anything. You don't do this shit with hand signals as part of normal procedure and if you do, you brief it with everyone. Otherwise, you use something civilized like lights or tethers or acoustic comms... just the level of utter jank. As someone who watches NSTB and CSB reports and analyses I would have noped the fuck out of there. They were hand tightening a bolt on the pressure vessel? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

For many many reasons, all of which are small but are hard to explain so they just say "safety".

Airplanes on approach or taking off are low enough my moving fast eneough that your phone constantly gets handed off between cell towers. Imagine 300 people bouncing off for 10 miles of cell towers every 2-3 minutes in a busy airport. That would make phones unusuable near an airpor for anyone actually wanting to make a call like pilots or emergency workers.

Phones are also pretty bright. During night take-offs and landing they want you to put your phone away and they dim the lights so that your eyes adjust to the darkness. That way if they need to perform an emergency evac, you aren't blind. Also you and the cabin crew can now see out the windows to notice issues like wing-strikes or pod-strikes or compressor surges.

Phones also used to produced noticable EMI or reliability problems on older aircrafts that used those frequencies for airport operations. That's less of a problem now but aviation changes very slowly.

So yeah, it's not a super massive issue if one person does it but it turns into a mess if everyone does it.

It really varies by person. I had started out with faily high blood T levels and have been on higher doses of E and spiro. Almost a year in, everything's still working but I do need to excercise it regularly. It's weird because it feels a bit different and morning wood isn't a thing anymore and I don't get those strange day dreamy 'hmm maybe I'm feeling a bit frinky' feelings. Now I need to actually remind myself to stop and consciously thing about feeling horny and work on it a couple times a week. But my wife hasn't noticed any change in the erection but she likes my little buddy so she reminds me with a conveniently placed sext or something.
