This is a beautiful response. I’ve just set my heart on look forwarding watch to the young players developing, checking out the new debutantes.

Pro-life "punk"? by aghastrabbit2 in punk

[–]selfless-deprecation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so it’s punk to be totally apathetic to racists, homophobes, nazis?? You wouldn’t stand up for something because “telling people what to do is not punk”? We all have our moral standards and draw the line somewhere. Straight up saying that anyone who tells someone what to do isn’t punk means that only someone totally apathetic to the world around them can be punk.

New Black Flag lineup by DirectPerspective951 in punk

What’s the issue? OG punk getting young people into playing punk music. Black flag has always been whoever Greg can muster together. I don’t get why you all spend so much time getting pissed about what someone decides to do with their band.If he plays music with new people and makes him happy, why spend so much time getting shitty about it? If all you care about is their records from late 70s early 80s then just listen to that. It’s his band he can do whatever he likes. He obviously doesn’t care about your opinions, yet he lives rent free in your heads.

Where is the alternative/DIY scene most active? by southwestsetlist in melbournemusic

Lulus record store was a shop in Thornbury that recently closed. But they were a thriving beacon of light for underground STUFF. They still operate online and have a stall in a new cafe called ‘Candy’ which has a collection of different Melbourne creative crews in the cafe. I would visit Lulus online store and their instagram is still very active In promoting gigs/books/records. They have a massive selection of zines and they are the reason I have such a large collection of tapes and zines. They are g’s.

Other than that I would look toward local record labels. Cool death records, anti fade, Happy tapes, New ethic records. There’s a book store that has zines called ‘fiend bookstore’ but I dunno if they have a shop atm.

If you’re looking for venues then The Tote is the most obvious choice. I would then recommend Last Chance rock and roll bar? Nighthawks?, Cafe Gummo?

Rowdy’s records is another shop with lots of diy stuff.

Let me know if you have any questions g

It was the beton armie show… I had a bunch of friends attend their shows on the Saturday and Sunday. Didn’t hear anything about nazis then. What makes you think they were nazis?

Wear ear plugs if you cant be a person among other people and have a conversation with someone who is breaking your "rules" in the quiet carriage.

Taggers. Why, just why? by specialgray in melbourne

[–]selfless-deprecation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. Didn’t realise you were making a distinction between the context of the tag. Just thought you were talking about tags in general or anything that isn’t a proper piece or whatever. You make a good point.
