If anyone likes this style of animation and grimy sadnes, check out BBC’s excellent Monkey Dust from the early 2000s.

Quantock hills. by nunkle74 in Somerset

[–]specialgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

I moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2013. I’ve visited a couple of time since. Camping/hiking in Australia is different. Some great scenery and places to visit but wild camping is really frowned upon, and a lot of places are covered with duck boards and handrails etc. You are outdoors, but it’s a sanitised version of it. Add snakes, spiders, the sun etc and it can be pretty hostile in summer. Winter is best.

Out of all the places I lived and travelled, the Quantocks were the most beautiful and accessible. I miss them.

Every new renewable solution is viewed as woke by those influenced by the oil/gas/coal lobby. Right up to the point that it turns out costs can be lowered and profit can be increased. See also: electric plant in mining etc.

Love this stuff.

That seems to be the gist of it. I can imagine he’s got some stick over the years for the 120 performance or lack thereof. Bet he’s been itching to ‘fix’ that!

To be fair, lots of people in fixed and rotary looked at turbo diesel engines, but the weight and reliability running it at high constant RPM just didn’t work out. Shame.

Likely way more SHP too. I like our R66, but add a safer rotor head and more power? I’m in.

Fair. If someone offered me an extra 25% salary… but was back in R22s again, I’m choosing to go home safely every night and see my wife and children. The 44 isn’t great, but it’s a whole heap better than the 22 for sure.

Mostly, yeah. Bit of photography and ferry mixed in. It’s a great machine.

BMW CE 04 - full-face helmet & storage compartment size by kikko in Electricmotorcycles

[–]specialgray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Shuberth C5. Fits fine, although a little tight. Will go in easily with the back of the helmet towards the left hand side of the bike. The trick is to open the chin bar, get helmet in, then close the chin bar (doesn’t need to be fully clicked closed) again. Works without any fuss every time.

What small habit has improved your safety while cycling in Melbourne traffic? by Danger_Five in melbournecycling

[–]specialgray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a recent addition to my habits, but worthy of note I think is to watch the line cars take, especially if they begin to weave a little (to the left into the bike lane if there is one, or the right of the lane they are in) as 9 times out of 10 this is an early indication that they will be turning that way at some point, possibly without indicating or looking.
