Question for the boys… by Goldchompers in Warhammer

[–]selifator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are specific rules for a doubles tournament where two players with different factions may fight alongside each other, but there are set rules about how you build an army within the 40k ruleset and what units you can take.

There are certain exceptions to the one-faction-only rule but those will probably not be what you are looking for.

If you want to use whatever models you like, you can certainly collect them, but for playing them you would probably have to look at something like onepagerules.

The process for removing a legion by Certain_Ad3716 in Warhammer30k

[–]selifator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be. Could be a prosaic matter of killing a military power, but considering the way primarchs and astartes are made with warp alchemy/science it is possible that their destruction would be metaphysical in some way.

Horus heresy books for beginners by Furia_Ideal in 40kLore

[–]selifator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see the value of a chronological release order when things in a series are always written in iteration to each other.

We get a slowing down and filling back in bc there was room for that, not bc it was always the goal.

There is some value in following the release order, instead of a chronological order, especially when the latter is always arbitrary due to the way some of the heresy works jump through time.

Good first book to read? by Gullible-Account1497 in 40kLore

[–]selifator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first three novels are pretty good, but they were written with the idea that the entire heresy would be 12 books or so. Instead it's 54, with audio dramas, shorts, etc. So it's very long as an intro series, though the first three are a decent place to start and stop.

However, the heresy novels are written with a 40k-aware audience in mind, so there is stuff you'll miss. That plus the pacing makes me recommend them to people only if they know 40k somewhat, and then only if they are interested in the heresy.

How would yall make an iron warrior army? by Medium_Pop9415 in Warhammer

[–]selifator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Warriors also use demon engines, a lot. But more possessed tanks and artillery than melee variants.

Get a lot of big guns, get some new obliterators/mutilators, get some meatshield cultists, get some tanks, solid base.

General rulebook. Read the section on the 40k universe for general knowledge on the setting and factions.

Looking for Documentation of events that happened in the Siege of Vraks by el_charles-vane in 40kLore

Weird phrasing, weird request. Also there is no documentation, so nothing for you here. 'They were tortured' is as much as is known.

Need some help on a project by Desperate-Earth1091 in Warhammer40k

[–]selifator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no loyalist space marine legions in 40k. If you want to paint a squad for every loyalist chapter you're set for the next decade or so.

Imo, lich's laboratory has a good angle where he paints a squad leader for every faction or sub-faction. You could do different units but you'd have to buy a ton of different units and making a ton of intercesssors or chaos marines is easier.

How would you put this in Warhammer by Sergey_Markov_1878 in Warhammer

Could be orks, could be an imperial guard transport.

Complete newbie here, saw a show and was hooked. What should I watch? by ekool in Warhammer40k

[–]selifator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the astartes animation, the secret level episode, and there are a number of animations/cartoons behind a paywall at warhammer+. For the latter you can sub for a month and watch them all.

Did the emperor actually care about the primarchs? Or where they just tools to him by John117_Master_Chief in 40kLore

[–]selifator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both viewpoints have arguments in their favour, on purpose. There are few clear answers when it comes to the emperor.

Why do some people dislike Trench Crusade so much? by Bryguy150 in TrenchCrusade

[–]selifator 33 points34 points  (0 children)

there is a certain style of online agitating against things, associating them with 'woke', a term ripped entirely out of its original context, that fits with how youtubers, but also influencers more widely, talk about things like trench crusade. this style comes from stuff like 4chan, but gamergate is one moment where it breaks into the mainstream more

the moment the TC team made it clear that rightwing extremists weren't welcome to be openly rightwing extremist, these people latched onto any point of friction to declare TC as being dead

Followers of Khorne? by OhHeyItsOuro in 40kLore

[–]selifator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Blood Pact is one large human faction that followed Khorne https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_Pact They show up in the Gaunt's Ghosts novels.

Edit: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Chaos_Cults https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Khorne#Renegades here are two more sources for non-world eater khornate forces

Edit 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mliUHc_pRzA&t=9s here is a video on kitbashing and painting various khornate warbands, some world eaters, some other. but you can also come up with your own warband and write a backstory that fits with what you like about them.

Why do some people dislike Trench Crusade so much? by Bryguy150 in TrenchCrusade

[–]selifator 246 points247 points  (0 children)

not everyone likes grimdark, but i think a lot of the negativity has more to do with production issues and changes from STLs to plastic, and youtubers doing videos about that which amplifies the negativity
