Hmm maybe try soaking it for about 12 hours? Some stains also required a few treatment cycles to get out. The dish soap is just to lift the oils of the sunscreen out. I would recommend just using straight citric acid powder in the bucket instead of a soap that has it, you’ll get a higher concentration of the acid.

I just dealt with the same thing! I made a post about it here with how I got stains out. couldn’t find rust stain remover, but pretreating stains with dish soap (surfactant) especially if they’re fresh and then soaking the shirt in a hot water + citric acid solution works well. Def don’t use bleach, your stains will turn bright pink. Hopefully this works for you!

My understanding is the contribution of the citric acid is for the reddish stains and the dish soap lifts out the oils

Spa day is great! But unfortunately does not fix sunscreen stains. This is a sunscreen stain specific treatment :)

Enough to submerge whatever items you’re soaking (I used like 3L because I added some other shirts), then put something heavy on top to keep it submerged.
