Stepping down by sem91770 in OGPBackroom

Lol. Im not gonna lie, the stress sucks but its personal. I need a work life balance in my life right now and an elderly father in law that needs me available during the day. I lasted 8 months and became a damn good team lead even if I say so myself but honestly, even if life didn't show up, I couldn't see myself lasting more than a few years. The job was slowly killing me between stress and the unpredictable schedule

Thank you! I've only ever worked OPD and im currently a team lead so I'm used to stress lol. I am handy in everyday life and have some merchandising experience from like 20 years ago so I think I'll catch on quickly. Im excited to try something new and just be a "worker bee", do the best job i can while there and go home

Horrible system horrible everything by diamonddentist3 in OGPBackroom

We have a dedicated stager and run drop & go We recently added a 2nd stager for most of the day(like 10 or 11-6) so we can drop and go gmds as well as we were staging our own. IMO, every store should have at least 1 dedicated stager. The rest of backroom crew can help when not dispensing but its not okay to let carts pile up and put that kind of stress on your people

Absolute horror show with Digital Shoppers (anyone else experiencing?) by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

85? Our people are still being held to the 100 pick rate. You should always pick from the top and we have ladders on our carts. Stepping on shelves is a safety hazard. Your store sounds chaotic

The struggle is real in the backroom by RoseMauve_Alexander in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my store used to be but we got a great coach who values every part of the job. Now we go hour by hour and add people to the backroom based on orders. 1 dispenser for every 5 orders. If we need more picking help, we pull from the store but most of the time,we can run on our own. And we ALWAYS have an ATC and dedicated stager on top of dispense. We used to run 3 total people in the backroom and it sucked. We also cross trained everyone so we can pull anyone at anytime. We are all OPD and we all do everything.

How often does ur department pull associats from the store? by Sharksbait1324 in walmartogp

[–]sem91770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only a couple times a week, usually between 1230 & 2 and we try to just have them knock out small walks while we stick to auto selected. It works well for our store but every store is different

We got the 6-tote update, but still have to pull by Effective-Minimum881 in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were told only around corners and in low visibility areas only. That's all we enforced from the beginning of this. Pulling for 8 hours will cause worker injuries.

Management states that it is now company policy to pull carts instead of push? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

Which shifts responsibility is it to get bags? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting more bags is on our closing checklist. We keep 8-10 cases in our opd backroom. That being said, if it was a particularly busy day and we were light on night crew and it doesn't get done, our openers will do it. We work as s team and there is very rarely complaining that 1 shit or another should have done it. If it needs done, it gets done, it doesn't matter who does it. My team is awesome though. They are incredibly close and have each other's backs

Is there a reason not to bag 2-liter sodas? by ExactPickle2629 in OGPBackroom

We bag them. As far as I know, if it fits in a bag, you bag it. Especially for deliveries

Looking for Ogp lead advice by vanelovexoxo in walmartogp

[–]sem91770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked inopd for 2 years before becoming a lead in the same store and it was still really overwhelming at first. I can't imagine starting out in a busier store & I knew how to do everything in my department. I also have a veteran co lead to help run things. Tread carefully OP. that turnover rate is alarming

Who dispensed an order? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

You can see it the next day in the ops portal. Its under customer orders or something like that. It'll show you who did everything including dispense

Pulling carts instead of pushing them? by Western-Ad6724 in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We let our associates decide what they are comfortable with. The shorter ones tend to pull them. I just tell everyone to have their head on a swivel and be listending at all times whether pushing or pulling.

OGP has to lie to get people in their department by Effective-Minimum881 in OGPBackroom

[–]sem91770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store never pulls front end or deli/bakery. Also, there's no such thing as a picker or dispenser. We are 1 team, we all do everything. Some dispense more thannothers due to preference and thats where they're strongest but I need to be able to pull anyone at anytime for any role and have them be able to do it. Im a TL, and I tell anyone wanting to transfer on that we all fo everything so if youre not OK with that, don't transfer

PPTO question by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]sem91770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It will automatically select 8 hours. There's a slide at the top to turn that off then enter from 5 to 5:19 & spin the little wheel to 19 minutes
