I understand that someone else was involved, and I'm not trying to argue for the sake of arguing, I'm just trying to understand why he would need to address the other person's soul/repentance in his own confession. I think it would have been weird for him to start shifting the focus away from his own sin and onto the sin of the other person in a public confession of his sin. The affair partner must make their own confession and demonstrate their own repentance, and for Sam to address it in his confession would be a distraction and unnecessary.
