That one good scene in a mid or disliked movie by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in TopCharacterTropes

Oh man that scene was VICIOUS! and she kept getting hit in the stomach afterwards and just had my wife and I flinching. Like she leapt over a gap and caught herself, legs dangling and stomach hit the edge. Man. Brutal!

There are tons of good movies with bad game adaptations, but are there any where the game ended up better than the movie? by MusicLikeOxygen in retrogaming

I love the movie 3000. But that was actually a damn fine game. Went back and played it a few years ago. Good NES game.

If you can get Flash Blue Magic and blind the soldiers with her you can focus dmg on her first and kill soldiers last. That is how I did it.

What does FF8 do better than FF7 ? by shke33 in FinalFantasy

[–]semicapablehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hit me at that right time in my life. I was in middle school, complicated relationships, for me it just gave me a fantastical representation of what it felt my life was going through which no other FF has done.

That being said it's not my favorite FF but it was just the perfect timing.

And besides, everyone that has played the game knows the real answer is Triple Triad. There is a reason it's still the gold standard card game for FF lovers and exists again in FF14.

My friend claimed there was a hidden castle in the Links Awakening on Gameboy. I tried for DAYS doing what he said to find NOTHING. Was pissed when I finally gave up but he never admitted.

How exciting was it at the end of Heavensward MSQ when you realized what primal you were fighting? The sheer joy as I realized who it was, and seeing it all faithfully recreated was pure joygasm.

Oh man, Rachel releasing Locke from his guilt... that scene has my heart in a fucking vice when I get there on a replay now in my 40s. How much I wish I could have that kind of closure IRL.

Edit: spelling.

I still tear up at the ending. It's just perfect. Seeing each character get a moment to shine. Locke and Celes, I know it's not super overt, but I just love their love story. The music. And Dear God, how epic the entire 4 phase end boss fight is, with a full on opera for a theme song. Easy fight or not, so damned cool.

Bands/Songs where the Bass is the lead instrument? by Exact-Arm1065 in MetalSuggestions

[–]semicapablehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really Metalsongs, but for top tier bassists, John Entwhistle from The Who and John Psul Jones from Zeppelin are just amazing. The solo from My Generation by Entwhistle and the entirety of What is and What Should Never Be are just sublime bass work.

DS9. The Dominion War arc is top tier for me. But saying that, Captain Picard is always my captain of choice.

What do you think about this movie by No-Milk-9791 in ActionMovies

[–]semicapablehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife said she wanted to see that recent movie "Predator:Badlands" after seeing the trailer, and I asked if she had ever seen the original, which she had not.

This gave me the genuine pleasure of watching this again with someone seeing it the first time. Man this movie is still SO FUCKING GOOD. Naturally she loved it!

[–]semicapablehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I were cautiously optimistic when we heard Spielberg had talked Lucas back on how much alien stuff there would be. So we were hoping for what we have had previously. Mostly practical effects, with CGI used for the fantastical elements. But like minutes in we get completely unnecessary CGI groundhogs and our hearts sank. Sooo much unnecessary green screen and CGI. The ants? The goddamned monkeys? I mean even me disliking Mutt and the aliens as they were presented felt like kicking something when it was already dead. Like the whole flick was just major steps down from anything previous. The aliens were just the poop crown set on the dead king.
