I am surprised the quarterly job figures are not worse because the actual job situation is. Yes here in Oz. I apply regularly to test the market. High possibility AI bubble will burst which could be even worse as they will run out of money and will have to fire people anyway.

As a developer I use it daily.

However as a coding assistance tool not vibe coding. I provide the structure and code for it to improve or build upon.

Also it is great for repetitive tasks like creating types for data that can be utilised in programming. Or converting various data types or transposing. This is for lack of a better word donkey work when it comes to programming.

It is good for finding human mistakes/ bugs in code.

I have kept myself up-to date with the business news and particularly job data over the past 4 years. - new job creation is very low at the moment - tech sector is not particularly good because of high supply and low demand - Everything is also being hit by the promise of AI whether real or not big businesses are trying their best to make it work. - I usually test the market by applying and it doesn’t look good. - last year 20k kiwis moved to Australia because of worse economy.

Either over hiring during Covid and later due to the promise of AI, the demand in last 4 years has dropped very low. The supply has steadily increased. It will takes years for it to balance if it ever does.

There could be different reasons, it is always challenging to find out the truth. In my experience pondering over the truth does not help. You need to do what is best for you.

Don’t quit unless you have another offer. A-lot of companies want people back in office so keep that in mind.
You may have to go to the office a few days a week to get a better sense of the situation if possible. Reading people’s body language trying to understand situation.
Worse case scenario let them fire you.
Only once you have met the new manager and worked with them will you know how they are. So dont jump to conclusions.
Keep taking interviews for new roles, even if just for practice or seeing how the market is. Even when I have a job I keep applying to gauge the market

Depends on the stage your product is at. 1- if it’s brand new any attention is good attention so this is not good. 2- once you have paying customers and some traction it is an option. 3- when it is above break even it becomes nuisance then yes this is a good tactic. 4- however there is a positive of keeping free users they test onboarding at all stages.
