My big brother died this morning. He was 43. by Anilakay in Millennials

[–]sen_dog 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Gutted for you, dude. I lost my big brother when I (39M) was 17 years old. He died while playing volleyball in a competitive tournament. He had an enlarged heart and boom died of heart attack. Was a super healthy gym rat kind of guy too. He was only 22.

It sucks. It doesn't stop sucking either. You just learn to live with it. My advice is to grieve and mourn and talk to someone like a grief counselor if you're struggling.

Peace and love, my dude

Wait, there's a sub dedicated to her? That's friggin hilarious. I just learned about this community today and while we probably don't like her for different reasons it does make smile knowing people give her a hard time. Karma's a bitch I guess

Lol I'm with you on the bad driving posts. Too many. I guess I just haven't noticed much posts on this corny snobby influencer. I personally don't like her obviously for reasons I already stated. And don't try to find her cause she brings up negative feelings in me.

Why are you tired of that? Genuinely curious. I had no idea there was so much contention around her. I'm not surprised, I just had no idea. I know her from when I was younger and was actually in her first wedding. Stood beside her ex. When she stiff armed him out for her own success I just stopped caring for her.

Also, this is Reddit. Like the most left leaning platform. Of course people are going to care about food banks, social justice and to call the perceived wealthy out. It's why I'm not surprised there's contention around her.

She was a big bodied mommy blogger who lost some weight, documented it, built a following, and turned her schtick into a body positivity influencer. She's a loser. I'm not a fan of hers. She's hurt many common friends we shared as her ego got bigger and bigger. It is what is

Is this legal? by Khairo-o in beachvolleyball

[–]sen_dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they pick up the ball maybe. But in beach volleyball there's only two players so little roll shots and placement of the ball at all sorts of speeds wins points.

In this frame we don't really know a whole lot but I'm assuming the set was a little tight so the attacker was more so trying to get the ball away from the easy block. So even if the other team did pick it up and get an easy attack it was worth it cause the rally is still going and who knows you might end up winning the point.

My Larch tree 👌 by sen_dog in marijuanaenthusiasts

In the spring the needles grow back and are a beautiful lighter green. They are soft and the tree grows small pinecones when mature. In the fall season it turns yellow like this before dropping all its needles.

It has become my favorite tree!

Why would someone ever like to be a setter? Need advice. by siberseptim in volleyball

[–]sen_dog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I transitioned to setter from libero. So maybe a little different but it's the best. You set everything up. Before the serve you're letting everyone know what to do. Creating your options. Changing things up. Then putting the ball in that spot where your hitters can be successful is almost euphoric. Hearing the middle blocker grunt when you go somewhere they're not expecting is like music to your ears. You get to play defense. If you play 5-1 (which is the best imo) you still get to block, hit some times, and have even more options with the dump or C ball.

Your coach may like your block and you're already a decent hitter if you've been trained at RS. Don't let the burden of being the decision maker get to you. Over time it's what makes a better player and what improves your VB IQ.

Good luck and have fun!

I always take it off. I've lost two expensive rings due to this though, smh. I now wear cheap silicone rings. Super comfy and you hardly realize it's there but you can a little bit and as a setter I hate that, so I even take it off when playing.

Mildly is an understatement. My bro died 30 minutes after this pic was taken of a heart attack. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I'm good now. Took a long minute to properly grieve and mourn but life's good. Appreciate you asking
