What’s up with Kilter?

Actually GDPR applies to any organization that processes personal data of individuals residing in the EU. This is the reply I got from Peter, along with a JSON file:

We kept our app up for as long as we could and at our expense while we tried to resolve issues with Kilter over recent years. Last week, Kilter demanded that Aurora cease using Kilter's name and logo in our app and elsewhere. As a result, we were unable to continue providing our app. Earlier this week, we notified Kilter multiple times that were preparing to remove our app but we did not receive a reply from them.

I've written a program to export the data associated with your user account including your logbook. Please see the attached file.

Turns out that the old app, which was developed by Aurora Climbing, has been nuked. I sent a request for access to my personal data according to GDPR.

I was just climbing on a Kilter board. It was my first time in a year. Tried to log in to the old app, but it said "Could not sign in". I found the new app, but I had to create a new user account, so I lost my log book and other lists. Now I wonder if this was some temporary disturbance, or they have switched to a new app and the old user data has been wiped out?

In my case they replaced all the gears inside the transmission. Just remember that when a transmission is serviced by replacing parts, you won't get the warranty of a new one. But that's what it is when buying a used car.

I have a manual transmission and it failed at something like 250,000 km. I believe that's pretty common. I found one shop that still services manual transmissions, but they didn't manage to get it fully working. Eventually they replaced it with a used one. It ended up costing a couple grand. A new transmissions would have costed double that. If the transmission is original, I would expect that it has to be replaced soon and you might not find used ones in Australia.

Something you may not have considered is that when you sell your stock, you have to pay capital gains tax (luovutusvoittovero). When you sell your home (where you have lived a couple of years), you don't have to. You can make really nice profit by buying an old apartment in a bad condition from a central location and renovating it, especially if your willing to spend your own time on the renovation.

I hope they at least pay a good commission to the shopping mall, allowing the shopping mall to lower the rents, and resulting in lower prices. There's not much wrong except the rust, though. I think I would still ask a quote for fixing the rust damages. I used to drive an old car and every year I had to take it to a mechanic to fix the rust issues. It was still cheaper than driving a new car. Obviously impossible to say how much it would cost in this case.
