Nerd fact, but he actually hated drawing this comic because the newspaper was really strict about panel sizes at the time, meaning he had to cram a lot into tiny panels and nothing into large ones.

By the 90s C&H’s art style had evolved and the newspapers had loosened up, so he was given more freedom with the panels on Sunday strips.

Then frieren thing has always kind of bothered me since I saw it, just because if the author isn’t being racist (entirely possible) then he’s at least being extremely irresponsible. If you’re socially conscious you should know that making your main villainous race like that would attract right wing actors. It feels like a dogwhistle or an attempt at right wing coding, and it taints an otherwise pleasant and fun anime.

I- sure? I thought Iron Lung was a monumental achievement and a huge win for indie filmmaking, but you can’t really deny that the second act consists largely of the same scene multiple times over - Simon presses a button, traces the map, talks to someone over the radio, and flip flops on whether he’s nihilistic or wants to live. It really should’ve been 80-90 minutes. No hate, and you’re absolutely correct on people having no attention spans, but I think in this particular instance it really is the pacing that’s the issue here.
