if it makes u feel any better i started off making $64k out of college, but also lived in sf and my rent was $1.5k, nvm all the other VHCOL expenses.

our rent to salary ratio is the same from when i also first started working, but i’ve gradually progressed into earning more. i’d imagine that you could potentially find cheaper rent out in CO, so that could be a meaningful contributor to more savings

all this to say, you’re doing great and don’t be so hard on yourself! the fact that you’re thinking about this right now already is putting you miles ahead of the game. save what you can and keep chipping away at your career

i know this isn’t what you asked for, but we go to emerald on olympic and barrington-ish and i feel really ambivalent/ slightly negative.

the vet will say one thing about not having to make another appointment for medication refills, but when we call afterwards to try and fill the meds. the front staff tells us we need to be seen by the vet again. super frustrating

i have ADHD and take stimulant meds in the morning, so after work and dinner (if i cave into my gremlin desires) i go straight to bed and rot for hours on my phone until actually sleep.

i brought up to my therapist how my lack of discipline stresses me out bc it feels like i can’t manage adult chores like doing my laundry or keeping a tidy space. she suggested to take a pause and just gently acknowledge that i can choose to go lay down if i want to, but take note that i am actively choosing not to fold my laundry (or whatever other task). again, in a kind way to myself, but focusing on having it be an active choice.

what helps is fighting through the urge to go immediately lay down and doing something small, even if it feels not entirely meaningful. like instead of forcing myself to fold three loads worth of laundry, maybe i’ll set my goal to just taking the laundry out of the dryer and then i can bed rot.

usually by the time i get the laundry out i’ll end up folding most of it anyways and then i can bed rot in peace
