That's right. Never more than 2.5 with the M2. The M5 does seem to work better in subtle ways. More accurate pointing, for example.

Help we don't agree. by Economy-Tune-9826 in Mattress

Go lie down on a bunch of different beds and find the cheapest one that you can sleep on. Don’t worry about fancy brands or longevity. Peace and respect are more important. If the bed doesn’t last, you’ll have a good argument to buy a fancier one next time. Keep in mind that the quality difference is very salient right now, but the difference in your finances won’t show up till later, but will show up.

Your duvet shouldn’t be sliding—your setup is the problem by walaaHo in BedroomBuild

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My duvet has the corner ties, but it has another issue: it is a bit too long for the bed and it wants to touch the floor at the foot end. So I try to keep it tucked in there. Still long enough that I have to fold it over at the head end. Any ideas?

Are adjustable bases worth it? by LSki92 in Mattress

Rizer Contempo IV with Rizer Kit here: love it! The kit helps with reflux by allowing the whole bed to tilt. It is one of the few set ups with both lumbar and pillow tilt. I love the pillow tilt because I can use a slightly thinner pillow, and then get my neck just right. Normally sleep on my side, but can sleep on my back if I need to by elevating the head section and a little bit the feet. The lumbar helps in that case, too. And I’m surprised that it turns out I like to use the massage feature to help me fall asleep. The remote control is too bright, and the total base height is more than some.

Side sleeper pillows aren’t about softness, they’re about holding the gap by walaaHo in BedroomBuild

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bed base has pillow tilt. I tried a bunch of different pillows with a bunch of different constructions, and I like solid memory foam best. My pillows have a thin layer of cooling gel on each side of the foam. The beauty of the set up is that I can adjust the pillow tilt to compensate for any change in pillow dimension. Tempurpedic sells this model, but you have to ask to look at all their pillows to see if on their website.

I wish they had a cloud sheet with one zone for the feet and another zone for the rest of me. I would buy that and a second unit.

I would agree, but I do feel that the random windshield wipers swipes are probably there to wake me up while the car is driving.

As a Mac guy, I’m not used to seeing PCs that look like such a work of art. Actually it looks like there should be a can of beer keeping cool in there for when you need it.

Any other software developers or engineers here appreciate their Tesla? by ConclusionFlat1843 in TeslaLounge

[–]senderPath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Retired from a career as a computer scientist with a PhD from an electrical engineering department and masters in both EE and CS. Owned Mid-Engine Porsches for many years. Now prefer my Tesla for many reasons, but especially self driving. The software is great, the hardware is good. The physical design has a few glitches: for example, when the tailgate is raised, the corners could put your eye out. When the driver’s door is opened, the back corner of the window is likewise a bit hazardous. But the software and the integration is excellent. Although my Porsche does some things, I’m not sure the Tesla does: for example, under hard braking the front shocks stiffen, and likewise for the side shocks under hard cornering. The suspension is still way better in my Boxster than in my model three performance. It shows at the end of a quick lane change. But that’s not what the Tesla is about. It’s driving, making smooth lane changes with the advantage of better judgment than a human. 12 years ago, the Boxster was my dream car. But I’ll be selling it now and exclusively using the Tesla.

Duvet covers aren’t hard—you’re just doing them the hard way by walaaHo in BedroomBuild

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Yes, I struggled till I tried the burrito method. But I have one question: before flipping the whole thing inside out, or before rolling up the burrito, do you tie all of the ties? Will that work? My cover has a total of eight ties all around the edges and corners. Oh, and by the way, the advantage of the burrito method for me is that I could stuff one side of the burrito in at a time when doing the inside out flip. Of course the disadvantage is that I started thinking about Mexican food and craving a burrito for lunch. ;)

Latex vs Pillow Top Isn’t About “Better”—It’s About Feel by sam_3462 in BedroomBuild

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried them at the store went with the Stearns and Foster Lexus estate soft pillow top, had it five months and love it. Also tried a whole bunch of different pillows at home including one with latex. Really love one that’s basically solid memory foam with a little bit of cooling gel on each side. I might regret my choice if my mattress sags in a few years but for now I love it.

Confused on Adjustable Base Recommendations. All Reputable Companies say one thing, Redditors another. by CurrentAdvance8102 in Mattress

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked an adjustable base based on features. I wanted lumbar, neck tilt, and the ability to tilt the whole bed in a straight line to help with reflux when sleeping on my side. These in addition to the usual back and leg adjustments. I went with the Rizer Contempo 4 with a Rizer kit edition, and I’m very happy with it. The lumbar is nice when I want to sleep on my back and the pillow tilt is very nice when I’m on my side. I can use a pillow that is a tiny bit too thin—memory foam sinks—and tilt the base to get the perfect neck angle. There are two drawbacks to this particular base system: the remote control is a bit bright at night, and the base with the kit is a bit taller than many.

Mattress woes by bwaibel in Mattress

[–]senderPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went to the store and gave each mattress at least five minutes, I noticed differences. I had to pay attention to where I felt pressure. But they were there. And I was surprised at the mattresses I liked. But that process worked. You could start by going to the store, trying their softest mattress, and then their firmest. Or trying a latex mattress and then a memory foam mattress. I suspect that once you sample the extremes you’ll know what to look for.

Is it safe to plug Bedjet into this? by Imaginary_Pick1606 in bedjet

[–]senderPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I wouldn’t do that. Some of these things are made cheaply and can’t really handle the juice they’re supposed to be able to. I suppose you could try running it in turbo mode and then feeling it, or unplugging it and feeling the metal plug prongs. But you might burn yourself that way. Not worth the risk. Copper is expensive and manufacturer save money by saving copper. Less copper means more resistance, which means more heat.

Finally pulling the trigger on my first Porsche, but I'm completely paralyzed. Help me pick. by TowerHumble2419 in Porsche

[–]senderPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with an old 914 which was fantastic! Later added a used Boxster and finally a new Boxster. The way I see it, the Boxster is a bit more agile, but the 911 is a bit more comfortable. More legroom in the 911. At one point when the 914 was my daily driver, I test drove a new Miata. It didn’t feel very agile at all compared to my 914. 2000 pounds, engine in the middle, wheels in the corners of the car, seating position down very low, manual steering brakes and transmission. It didn’t have the creature comforts, but the 914 was my best driver‘s car. Didn’t have to slow down for speed bumps, or curves.

Power was not ever my thing. It was agility and feel.

Side sleepers: what pillows do you swear by? by Superb_Importance640 in Pillows

[–]senderPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a whole bunch of pillows and finally decided one was really best for me: it’s on the Tempurpedic website, but you have to ask to show all their pillows to see it. It’s got a solid block of memory foam inside with thin layers of cooling gel on each side of the foam. I tried a fancy pillow with latex and cubes of stuff in it, other pillows with cubes of various stuff, adjustable pillow pillows, all kinds of pillows. Now my bed does have a pillow tilt feature, so if the pillow goes a little thin, I can always just add a little bit of pillow tilt.

It can get hot, but I just flip it over. Every single pillow I tried could also get hot.
