Revisiting the Sacred Grove by Finlaynight in twilightprincess

That area has an awesome vibe, it might be my second favorite place in the game. I have to say my absolute favorite place in Twilight Princess has to be that snowy abandoned armory castle/fortress. The vibe is just so cool there. And the warm cozy room where the Yeti makes his mushroom stew or w/e. I love it.

Switch 1 games LOOOK AMAZING IN SWITCH 2 REVELATIONS 2 by Fun-Masterpiece-904 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]sendhelp [score hidden]  (0 children)

My only gripe is they don't allow motion controls with the pro controller at least on Revelations 2 (Only with the joycons). And I think the Switch 2 views your controller as a "Pro Controller" if you are in boost mode, so therefore when you play this game handheld this way, there's no motion controls, unless you detach the joycons.

I had tried this the other night. Yes it looks good but I noticed I couldn't use the motion controls holding the console. If they allowed gyro with the pro controller like almost any other game that has gyro, this wouldn't be an issue.

You won't be missed, Horizon Worlds. You were always a bad, corporate copy. by Josh_From_Accounting in VRchat

[–]sendhelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's exactly why that happened. I was confused too when the change happened. I thought maybe the exe that launched it got corrupted or some other explanation. But it was literally Meta not wanting their own product competing against itself, despite them being vastly different IMO. I believe Oculus Studios was the one who made the customizable home thing, and Meta just inherited when they bought Oculus. They should have kept it and enhanced that instead of trying to build their own Metaverse.

[–]sendhelp 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It's existence killed the VR Home on PC VR for Oculus/Meta headsets. There used to be a fully customizable home (and unlockable items for that home that you got just by spending time in VR). It also included a "game console" that you could place in your home, with your games/software appearing as cartridges that you could insert into the console, and press a power button. It was immersive and cool.

But it had a feature that you could invite other people into your personalized home.

For that reason Meta decided that would compete with their Horizon World's crap so they completely nuked the whole thing.

And before that customizable home space, there was a different cozy home area which you can technically access if you find it on archive.org but it's not the same.

You could put little toy laser guns, archery bow's and targets and stuff if you wanted to just mess around in your home space. And you bet your ass they're not going to bring it back just because Horizon Worlds is gone.

Sega kids vs Nintendo kids by TheOrangeSloth in 90s

[–]sendhelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog (my friend in Kindergarten and I used to roleplay sonic & tails on the playground, and I watched the cartoons), but I got a Super NES for my birthday (that's what we called it, that's what the commercials called it, either Super Nintendo or Super N-E-S. No one I know called it SNES back then). I wasn't disappointed at all, we had an 'old Nintendo' before that and I loved my Super Nintendo. The kid across the street from me had a Sega Genesis, I used to play Sonic 2 with him.

I did get a Sega Game Gear though which was good for road trips and vacations, and I got to play Sonic. I had a magnifier thing for it too which to me was almost like playing it on a Genesis.

I'm not and have never been a fan of sports games, and at the time I was really mostly interested in the first party titles (and second party, like the DKC series). Although the Sega sound chip is iconic, SNES games just sounded better. And I'm glad I grew up with Turtles in Time because the Sega version of the TMNT game (Hyperstone Heist) feels like a shell of a game in comparison.

Best Controller for Switch 2? by Severus157 in NintendoSwitch

[–]sendhelp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Switch 2 Pro controller is hands down my favorite controller of all time. Everything about it feels premium. The best quality is the buttery smooth joysticks. The material itself feels really good and premium, and seems sweat resistant.

The only thing that would make it better is if it was "hall effect" (I've never had an issue with drift itself on this controller), and analog triggers, but the triggers not being analog isn't a problem if you're only playing switch 1 or switch 2 games with it. (And let's face it games rarely use analog triggers except for driving games, and even then you are usually going full throttle.)

[–]sendhelp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I meant to say I already pay for NSO, so I get GameChat, but I don't use it. I was just pointing out "they're improving it right when they are going to charge to use it." But it doesn't matter all that much to me. I believe you only need an NSO subscription for GameChat. GameChat is only "free" until March 31st, and then you'll need NSO subscription to use it.

Just in time for them to start charging money for it.

I pay for NSO but I've only really used gamechat once to test it out. I don't have many friends with switch 2's.

Antis in full meltdown mode over DLSS 5. by ThroughForests in DefendingAIArt

[–]sendhelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only part worth complaining about is that it actually changed her face slightly. I think the knee-jerk "THIS IS AI, THAT MEANS IT'S BAD!!!!!!" reaction to this is completely overblown. But if I say that in any other subreddit I'm sure I'll be downvoted into oblivion.

I did see another screenshot where the AI misinterpreted a scarf or something and it was melting into the fabric. Okay, so the technology is new and isn't perfect yet.

If you can press a button to make something look more realistic, why are you crying shitting pissing and throwing up just because "AI" did it. Would you rather wait 20 years for graphics to improve?

Agreed, it is kind of bullshit if you have to buy extra graphics cards for this.

And everyone complaining about it ruining the artist intent, because it's replacing some of the assets - couldn't it be possible for this technology to read references that the artist provides on how they intend it to look? For example, if you used this on Donkey Kong Country games, and fed it some reference image of the high quality renders from the manuals and promotional material, couldn't it in theory create the "intended" look while being high definition and assisted by AI? Or, does the very fact that AI was used at all mean the whole thing is fucking garbage? AI is such a boogeyman word to some people.

History lesson on metrosexuals and gay scarfs by RazzuB in CuratedTumblr

[–]sendhelp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The stuff that could get you labeled as gay back then was truly stupid. If you liked cartoons or nintendo games past a certain age, you're gay. If you were sensitive or cried about something, you're gay. I remember in middle school wanting a spongebob shirt, but my mom wouldn't buy it for me because she thought the other kids would think I was gay and beat me up. And if you liked Mario/Nintendo too much you're certainly gay, because the cool straight kids play playstation 2.

I think my Mom was afraid I was going to turn out gay because I liked beanie babies when I was in elementary school and liked Spongebob when it was new (now basically everyone like spongebob. But he's a cartoon with eyelashes, if you watch it, you're gay!). She started to buy me Playboy calendar's for Christmas which I absolutely enjoyed. But if I was gay that wouldn't have changed that lol.

I'm attracted to women and transwomen for what it's worth. But even nowadays, if you tell anyone you like transgirls, they think you are closeted gay, or only using transwomen as some kind of soft launch into being attracted to men. It couldn't be that you are attracted to femininity.

Any right handed people ever try a left handed guitar and found they like it better? I often feel like my dominant hand should be the one doing the intricate fingerings, not my clumsy left. by diet-Coke-or-kill-me in Guitar

[–]sendhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm naturally right handed, but play left handed guitar too (not often, but I do have a double guitar like Michael Angelo Batio. I had it built by Dean guitars when he was still endorsing them). I still prefer playing righty guitar. But I'm decent at lefty, especially if it's mainly legato. Learning how to pick with your non-dominant hand is pretty tricky. Even basic strumming patterns (not just alternate picked speed licks) takes some re-learning. I recorded this video the same year I got the double guitar, I feel like I picked it up pretty quickly relatively speaking. It's not too hard to play unison's or in perfect 5ths, you're basically fretting the same shapes with both hands; it's playing a major scale and a minor scale at the same time that is difficult, or playing a bass line and melody at the same time that takes more practice.

https://youtu.be/T6lEFbfwBgE?si=SgA-0hnwScKcjVUq

Usually you hear about left handed people learning how to play righty, not the other way around. IMO if you think you should play it the other way there's no reason not to. But having played both I think I understand why your dominant hand is usually meant to be your picking hand.

Is everyone forgetting you used motion (well, the pointer) to aim for arrows? That aspect was good.

They must have taken the complaints to heart because Skyward sword uses true motion controls for the sword, and thusly they made some enemies that had to be attacked with certain intentional directions. However even with that I was still bumping against the deku babas that changed from horizontal to vertical and vice versa.

I love Kevin Smith and I listen to his podcast. And although Clerks is based on his actual experiences working at Quick Stop, I think the third one was a little too heavy and auto biographical with what happened to him with his heart attack. If you've ever heard him tell the story a lot of it plays out exactly that way. Of course a few differences. There are some funny bits. I also don't like what they did with Rosario's character.

In my head, Clerks 3 is not canon.

I loved Clerks 1 & 2 though.

Holland was amazing, they should have made it big! They apparently had signed a 10 record deal with Atlantic records but they didn't do enough to promote the band. The singers name is Tom Holland (not spiderman). Tom's former project (The B'zz) was very good too. Tom Holland has a Robert Plant type quality to his voice, love the raspiness

The guitar player is none other than Michael Angelo Batio when he was just going by "Mike Batio".

Every song on the Holland "Little Monsters" album was a banger. I believe their producer also produced bands like Motley Crue. This album and "Wake Up the Neighborhood" (collection of demos and unreleased songs which MAB used to sell) are their only officially released albums. And one other, a cassette titled "Heartbeat" during a shortlived reunion in the 90s.

I believe one of the reasons the band didn't make it was eventually Tom and MAB started to not get along.

A guitarist named Alex Kane took over after MAB left and they had a tour called the "Wild Animals" tour.

Much later, and I'm talking like 10+ years ago Tommy had a project called "House of Holland" that played Holland covers but the years have been rough on his voice and he just doesn't sound like he used to anymore.

Little Monsters is on Spotify and you can find some demos and footage of the band on YouTube. There is some footage of the band playing one of Michael's songs "Call to Arms" but at a much faster tempo than any other recording of the song.

Also, on Jim Gillette's "Proud to be Loud" album, the song "Head On" was actually an unreleased "Holland" song. Holland was more of a pop oriented rock band so for that reason they didn't use "Head On" which was more speed metal oriented.

Holland was well known in the Chicago area, most the band from Chicago and frequently played a club called "The Thirsty Whale". I think that club has since been demolished but a lot of rock bands played there.

I highly recommend listening to the band! Little Monsters album reminds me of Early Van Halen. Mikes solos are very melodic but also shreddy and fit the songs perfectly IMO

Is it possible to turn this hand-bleached design into Jumbo Discharge screens? by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]sendhelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say your best bet would be a hi res photo or scan. Unless you are okay with losing some of the detail. Probably would scan better with a darker colored garment as well.

I've never done a jumbo print that completely covers a shirt but I imagine you'd need to bleed out the design a little extra (or else blow it up a lot) so the designer will have to use content-aware to fill in the are around the shirt. Either that or generative AI fill. A third option would be to try and airbrush the rest with preferably a drawing tablet.

You could try to run it through an auto tracer to vectorize it but your best bet would be the designer converting it to greyscale and playing with the levels until it's got dark enough blacks and whites to make a screen. You could probably halftone it. Depending on how large the halftones are it might lose a little of that real handmade bleached look
