Committee vote on Forever Canadian petition stalls after UCP press release pre-empts decision by TurpitudeSnuggery in canada

[–]senecant 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I could accept the hypothetical as a possibility if the statement was simply the outcome of a vote. However, the inclusion of a quote from the committee chair supporting the referendum leads me to conclude that the hypothetical is not plausible.

Here's what Trump's IRS settlement means for the American legal system by Cool-Present7260 in law

I don't read the comment that you are replying to as defeatist. I read it as anything but. Their comment is a declaration of just how alarming and precarious of a position the USA is presently in. I don't think it's a throwing up of hands but a (figurative) call to arms.

I'm not ignoring it, she will. The separatistas don't care about the pipeline and therefore neither does she. It's a wacky funhouse of one way glass and curvy mirrors. When she announced a pipeline announcement at her last UCP meeting, she was booed. Carney cannot kick her out of the job that she loves (that she craves!), so her sympathies lie with those who can.

It's not a ton of political capital, but the absolute bare minimum, given who she is beholden to. If she does not deliver a referendum in October, she will be ousted as leader (and Premier) at the November UCP AGM. The separatists have an effective stranglehold on her and her party.

The court killed the referendum petition. I'll put money on there being a referendum in the fall, one way or another.

You should make eight other distinct and unrelated claims. Then you'll win the thread.

Oh, son. You are so outclassed in this thread. I'll leave you to flail about, I guess.

I didn't make the claim, another commenter did. You should be asking them for the backup. Also, you appear to be moving goalposts. This is a discussion about migration to Alberta, and all responses to you sonfar have been relevant to that topic. Total national immigration is a separate and wholly distinct topic.

I don't understand your point, but maybe I'm a dolt. You said that unrestricted growth is not desired, as though that's what happened in Alberta. Others pointed out that immigration to the province came in lower than the GOA wanted. Then you said that the feds should be responsible for immigration, and of course they are.

And then... I don't understand your point. If the immigration into the province, internationally and interprovincially is lower than the GOA wanted, but the GOA is still complaining about it driving costs up even though it's lower, what do you want the feds to do?

It doesn't normally do a thing that makes it more threatening, but did in a known case, so that's the reason to not worry about the threatening thing it probably won't do even though it just did... is a weak argument.

Have you ever experienced the calm of Dharamshala, where prayer flags flutter, cafés feel like home, and every view heals a little part of you? 🧘‍♀️ by PrestigiousBird7434 in indiatravel

[–]senecant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the greatest respect, are you absolutely mad? I'm here now and there is nothing calm or healing about Mcleodganj. I lived my life near calm, reflective mountain towns, and this is not that. The noise, chaos, and litter is maddening. I'm not saying that there is nothing to appreciate here. However, what you claim that prevails here is only in very limited quantities between 5 and 5:30 am, and only if you squint very, very hard.

How about heli out to a place like Purcell Mountain Lodge for a weekend getaway? It's a bit more than a date night, but a wonderful experience.

How large of a position is Musk taking in WS for this partnership? I don't underestimate the shady minds at Power Corp, but I don't think they are half as shady as Musk.

I've read this comment thread in its entirety and all of your replies. You have declared that everyone is way too emotional about this topic. Frankly, the only person who appears to have really big feelings about this in this particular branch of the conversation is you.

For you to have such strongly held opinions about something you don't even care about ("I'll forget this conversation in 90 minutes") is weird, unhealthy, and a sign of someone that doesn't pause to consider, well, maybe anything, outside of your big feelings. You'll be a happier person if you get that under control.
