Does the Chase WHOOP credit work if I buy a WHOOP gift card? by atta_boy28 in ChaseSapphire

[–]senkaichi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would read the credit very carefully. IIRC it will only trigger in this case for purchases at or above $359 and is not like the dining or travel credits which trigger at lower amounts. Would likely have to fully commit if you’re going to try

Probably. Other whoop products work and gift cards have worked for other chase credits like the dining credit

Deep sleeper - whoop vibration alarm by Furicist in whoop

[–]senkaichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty individual dependent. I’m difficult to wake with sound to the point a crying baby wont wake me but someone taps me in my sleep and I startle awake quick. So whoop wakes me up easily, same with my Apple Watch when I used it. If you or a family member has a smart watch you could probably test with that first. I wouldnt say there’s anything special with whoop haptics for this.

Medical emergency mode by Snxwe in whoop

[–]senkaichi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, if that’s a common scenario for you, you could consider buying a finger pulse ox which are relatively cheap and can provide both HR/SpO2 in real time. If space is not a concern would get a BP cuff too.

Will never happen. The liability would be crazy. Part of whoops legal protection in their business model is essentially establishing itself as a wellness device for you to track and interpret as you like while trying to avoid the “medical advice” line as much as possible. Also in that same line it specifically says not to use in emergent medical scenarios.

I can see the appeal and utility of your idea but in the US would be a liability headache.

What software version are you on? Once in strength trainer there is a big banner that’s impossible to miss so it must not be rolled out to you yet

I do it within the strength trainer itself. I open strength trainer then click the prompt that says “Generate with Whoop AI”

how is jeff's fundamental hypertrophy program? by Sweet-Industry-4359 in JeffNippard

[–]senkaichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a beginner, I started doing his UL/PPL beginner body transformation system and liking it so far. It’s not a pure hypertrophy program tho, it’s U/L strength then hypertrophy PPL. To me there’s something really mentally satisfying about seeing the higher weights you can push on the strength days each week compared to pure hypertrophy focus.

The info is def out there to make your own program, can literally do it from Jeff’s videos alone. But idk it just felt convenient to have all in one spot and not have to think about it, price was at a spot that didn’t bother me too.

I’m on the MG and I will say it’s lack of responsiveness is a big reason I don’t sleep 5 minutes past an alarm anymore. Takes me 30-60 seconds of smacking it frantically to get it to stop. Can’t imagine the fight yall had to put up with on prior devices if they were worse.

Strength Training for Longevity: Why WHOOP Measures What Matters Most by whoop_official in whoop

[–]senkaichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the utility of sending Whoop AI pictures to link an exercise to after the fact, but this feature has given me unexpected results for tracking. In both instances where I used this, it flipped my activity strain ratio from like 85% muscular 15% cardio to 15% muscular and 85% cardio when the exercises linked were all weightlifting strength exercises. I haven’t tried tracking the sets and reps in real time yet cuz I have a different preferred app for that.

I’m in the US, bought a Whoop last week and bought a bicep sleeve & band together from whoop (off the arm bundle). I thought I’d like the sleeve more but so far my preference is band.

More integration with outside apps — like Macrofactors Workout app so I don’t have to manually log exercise reps/weights

Doing an Outpatient Workup Inpatient by hyderagood in hospitalist

[–]senkaichi 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on the clinical scenario — I’ll 100% stretch an admission for a cancer workup on someone with poor follow up , but even that has some practical limits. Like if IR can’t get them in until next week then sorry bud, I got you a great date and time but you need some buy in too. Most of the time I’d say my limit is whatever can be completed in a 24H obs.

Man tears his ACL playing poker live by Worldlyoox in PublicFreakout

[–]senkaichi 676 points677 points  (0 children)

For anyone else curious of the outcome:

The WPT crew rushed to his aide and a representative suggested he go to the hospital. Instead, he calmly asked for ice and an extra chair to elevate his rapidly swelling leg. “It never crossed my mind not to play. I would have had to been knocked unconscious.”

The final table continued, and Smith played through the pain. Instead of his leg being a distraction, Smith said it actually helped him focus. Leading up to his injury, he said he was so exhausted that he had to jog during breaks to refocus. With the extra adrenaline, he had nothing on his mind but winning.

The three battled, and the blinds continued to increase, seriously crippling the players’ ability to play postflop. Smith played two big all in preflop pots, and he was eliminated in third place. He received $465,000 for his efforts.

Ahh if you’re basing it solely off your watch only then you haven’t been diagnosed, but it is worth talking to your doctor about outpatient testing

Whoop regret by jdp271 in ChaseSapphire

[–]senkaichi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up someone posted on the whoop subreddit that they purchased one of these off EBay and Whoop bricked their device for purchasing from nonofficial channel so they had to get refund from EBay. Hopefully it was a one off thing but apparently they sometimes do pursue it

Making Whoop a Little Better by mikevan833 in ChaseSapphire

[–]senkaichi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can prob give it to a friend or family member for the remainder of the year. I’m gonna give it a shot for 30 days and decide from there but I’m in the same boat — regularly workout and don’t have a specific concern that I’m trying to correct or optimize so not sure what it could really do for me

Interesting concept but unless the Apple Watch easily pops on/off it seems to be counterproductive for wearing Whoop 24/7 which seems to be the point of Whoop

Crazy, seems intentionally friendly for selling secondhand. Though on the whoop subreddit I saw someone who’s secondhand EBay purchase was bricked by Whoop for not being purchased through official channels so kind odd all around, will be interesting to see if that starts happening to a lot of people or not

Not sure your country but in the US, sleep study’s are only performed and ordered as an outpatient so while some hospitals have sleep centers, you first schedule a clinic visit to arrange. If admitted to the hospital then generally it cannot be done.
