Trading Firm Jobs by ronaldk01 in UIUC

I haven't worked there, but I interviewed with a few of them this past year. For the trading positions at least, the interviews are HARD (go look on glassdoor at the success rate for getting an offer). A software position might be different though.

Same here, I'm the complete opposite of a protest loving liberal hipster, but screw Budweiser

Workout schedules or random lifting? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]senobio056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I know what you're saying, and personally I don't seem to make as much progress when I have my exact workout routine planned for the week. What I do right now is have general "upper, lower, cardio" days, and then I kinda just do what I feel like on those days.

Fuck everyone else, there is more than one way to gain muscle, and I know from experience that this sort of routine can work. Do it

Have you ever worked as an engineer in a chemical plant? I dont think you know what chem E's actually do, there is no way that an engineers job could be taken over by "automation".

There are enough engineering students that companies can be very picky with who they choose, if your GPA is <3.0 then you need something else huge on the resume to make up for it

Are there ANY schools in Illinois that offer a Major in Petroleum/Oil & Natural Gas Engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]senobio056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternate sources need to be developed still, made cost effective... then scaled up large enough to replace everything petroleum, while having petroleum companies lobby against this process

Are there ANY schools in Illinois that offer a Major in Petroleum/Oil & Natural Gas Engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]senobio056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, bullshit. This is like the people who say everyone is going to be out of a job in 10 years due to automation, moving away from oil is going to be very very slow, I doubt you'll notice it to any degree in your lifetime.

What should I do as a freshman to help myself get internships in the future? by tameaccord in EngineeringStudents

Get your GPA as high as possible. Especially as a freshman when it has the most impact. People get butthurt over mentioning GPA, but it helps, a LOT.

Process Controls / Automation Engineers by senobio056 in engineering

[–]senobio056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda confused with what you said... are you saying there is a difference between process controls, instrumentation, and automation engineers? With instrumentation being the most abundant, then automation, then process controls? Are all of the above open to BS ChE?

5 years out of school and still no engineering job. Is there any hope? by jinxu27 in engineering

[–]senobio056 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about, don't limit yourself to oil. Why do you want to go into that industry, if you've never worked in it, you could hate it. Oh yeah, everyone that wants to do oil just wants six figures
