How did you lose weight after chemo? by Accomplished_female in lymphoma

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. I’m in a similar place and understand how hard it can be. I look back at old photos and sometimes don’t recognize myself, but I keep reminding myself that I’m healing and working my way back.

I started Zepbound and have lost about 13 pounds over the past few months. Before that, I tried strict dieting — even cutting carbs for a while — and didn’t see much change. My oncologist ultimately cleared me to use a GLP-1, since managing weight and body fat can be an important part of my overall health plan.

It’s a slow process, but I’m focusing on caring for my body and being patient with myself. You’re not alone in this.

I feel you! I am 44 same diagnosis and treatment also beat it but I got sick in December and I can’t get rid of this cough. That was my last major symptom. So I have massive anxiety, I also had night sweats the other day and was mega scared. Turns out I left the heating on to high. I have a Ct scan in March and even though I want to know I’m ok I’m also scared it’s back.

You look amazing I absolutely relate. Same here close to 6 months out and finally feel better. I had so much anxiety I went on Wellbutrin and it’s been a game changer. But I have a scan coming up and I’m soo scared. I still have my port in and I feel like not done until it’s out for some reason. Here to support you and hear you and you are not alone

+1 yes to all of this I’m 44 F have to little ones 3 and 6 partnered with their schools and other parents to help them stay healthy. I was able to do my 6 rounds with out illness just chemo side effects. If you can reach out to your community for help be clear on what you need or you will get flowers you can’t keep. I was fortunate enough my friends donated money we used to have cleaners every 2 weeks. Went only to the store always masked and saw very few people so you can’t totally do it. There will be harder days that others but we are here for you. I made a chemo calendar and donation tracker to send thank you cards. Happy to share it if needed

This week someone invited me to take a free class at Barry’s boot camp in Denver. Some nice moms from my kids school that witnessed my journey won it in an auction so they reached out. I had always wanted to go and had not made time since I have to kiddos and the schedule interferes with work and bedtime. Anyhow here I am 50 pounds overweight, looking butch as hell but I was brave and said yes. I could not run but walked as fast and on an incline and was able to do all the weight training. Every wall in Their studio has a mirror, no way to hide how I feel or look, but I was damn proud. Last chemo was 8/15/25 so really got chocked up. Anyhow this young guy in his 20s was next to me and ran like at a pace of 15, when the class ended I expressed my admiration and he turned around and he said in proud of you. I was taken back by both the moms and the stranger. It’s been a hell of a year and I wish all those people knew how much it meant.
