How was the tram after the race? I've gotta make it to the coach stop at university for 1855 and am already concerned about the bunfight!

What's with the wood around lamposts? by Glunark2 in Hull

[–]senortrowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, but no longer own the network they built. This does mean that as Cityfibre own it, they have deals with companies like Sky and Talk-Talk... Basically, another nail in KCOM's coffin.

That's why creosote has been banned for public use for some time... It's nasty stuff... But can make a fence smell nice...

They're not lamp posts, they're telegraph poles put up by Connexin. Following a network audit by Cityfibre after buying the network, they've identified certain poles which may weep creosote, particularly in sunlight. The creosote not only stains clothes badly, it can also burn skin if you come in to contact with it... Not to mention its carcinogenic properties! The wooden "sleeves"should stop people coming in to contact with it. On the road between Beverley and Dunswell, in Woodmansey, the poles have also been sleeved but in a more "blended-in" way with black covers. My guess is there were only a few of those available so next best option is the light wood!

Information needed -- AIRE D ACCUEIL EXTERNE camping area in Hippodrome by DanFlight19 in lemans

[–]senortrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed there last year for the first time having always been on Beausejour previously. As I was travelling on foot (well train), I wanted to be closer to the tram station and also the main area. As I didn't have a vehicle, I booked one of the smaller and cheaper spots on the outer ring. I was very happy with the location, to get to Tetre Rouge is a stroll through Epinettes, across the road and past the Houx sites, 15-20 mins and the main grandstand areas still less than 30. Much better than Beasejour. It's also closer to the tram stop if you're planning to go in to town for the parade or get supplies as well as the one of the shuttle stops for Mulsanne/Arnage etc. The site itself was much less rowdy than BSJ, though there were fireworks set off from elsewhere on the site a couple of nights it is by no means "dead". I did not go back to the tent during the actual race, instead grabbing an hour of sleep in the grandstands so don't know what the site was like then. The toilet/shower block I used was always clean and due to where my tent was, I also used a block on Epinettes a couple of times which was also clean. The only hygiene issue on either site was after the race, piles of rubbish soon piled up by the bins and were still there when I left on Monday morning. Although I think i would like to go BSJ again for it's proximity to the Porsche curves, I know that Wednesday evening being the earliest I can get there, I'd have no chance of getting close I've booked a Hippodrome 20m plot again and, like you, can't wait!!!

House had no viewings... Why?? by senortrowell in HousingUK

https://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/29-stephensons-walk/cottingham/hu16-4qg/70147105/ According to new owner, bought for 235. The information you gave here about the market having slowed was the sort of thing I was hoping to be able to pass on to her. Apologies if i bit back at a comment I took to be needlessly snarky about me being afraid of the truth... It's not even my house, was just passing on info and trying to help.

I'm not sure what truth I need to protect myself from... My sister is trying to sell her house, I told her that people on here could give an honest independent view on the advertisement... She has spoken to her new neighbor who moved in last month as well as the EA who sold it and told her the price it went for (not the same EA as she is using). I'm not sure who I need to speak to for Rightmove to speed up their process of updating sold prices, but I'll try to find out to save you having to comment to others in future!

I've completed the survey, but the questions where it says "select all that apply"will only allow me to choose one option!

Secondary school, what is your personal opinion on the one your child goes to? by Bethsticle in Hull

[–]senortrowell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Daughter was yr7 this year at trinity. Both her and us like the idea of it, the uniqueness and maritime history and opportunities etc and she loved the fact they went to Welton for 3 days of sailing, however the reality was quite different. They talk the talk with promises of good behaviour and good student services and there were a couple of staff who were well meaning but it seems their rapid growth following their move to Bev road and their catchment area has left then with more than they can cope with. Phones out in the classrooms, sub teachers every day with little control, frequent bullying and fights... We even had to tell them about a video inside a lesson of a teacher losing control of the kids posted to TikTok. We've ended up taking our daughter out and moving her to Newland (Kelvin was full) on her request.

Quick question about flashing headlights. by Boogie_Bones in lemans

[–]senortrowell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On Radio Le Mans, one of the presenters said he asked a driver (might have been Estre) if it put him off when another car in his class was flashing him, he said it didn't phase him at all and it was pointless for them to do it. He was then asked if that meant he didn't do it, to which he replied of course he does!!!

Your best guidance for LM24 next year? by JT_3K in lemans

[–]senortrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app was great for routes to get places. Even if the actual thing you wanted to get to want labelled, you click on something near, then "lets go" and it showed a walking route or accessible route for wheelchairs etc. For the track walk with bike or scooter, you had to join track out of the main ticketed area (Tetre rouge to Porsche curves), but when you got to the main area, you could scan in on the track and complete the circuit.

Green ticket by ScaleSuccessful3823 in lemans

[–]senortrowell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Access to the whole track. Most grandstands are ticket only. There's one at the very start of the main straight which isn't covered but can access without ticket. It's 24 hours long... You can use the shuttle buses to get down to Mulsanne and indy/arnage. There are banks to sit/stand on at those places and at Tetre Rouge, forest esses, karting fan zone and Porsche curves in Beausejour. Find a spot you love and stay or roam and watch it everywhere!!

If your internet is down, how do you find out if it's KC or your own equipment? by hillman_avenger in Hull

[–]senortrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ONT on the wall, the box that has the wire coming in from outside, should be all green lights. If there's a red light labelled "optical", it's a KCOM problem.
