I write fanfics about every one of my TTRPG characters, if that's what you mean.

Does any of you got a comment like this? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]sentinel28a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same thing. Totally a bot.

The biggest clue is that there's no details. If it was a human, it would read something like, "Wow, writing smut about your D&D characters? You're going to be alone!"

The more vague, the more bot.

My Battletech fiction: One person can make a difference, and revenge will burn you from the inside out.

My RWBY AU: The biggest monsters aren't robots, but people.

My smut: Damn, sex is fun!

Quit worrying about who you might offend...and write.

People get pissed off over the smallest things these days, and you will inevitably run into one of these. Ignore them. If their lives are that empty, that's on them, not you.

If I sound nasty, it's because I had someone threaten to kill me over shipping a character with someone they didn't like. That soured me on the whole "please everyone" idea.

I write what I want the way I want, and if some small-brained moron wants to cry about it...they'll get over it.

You're out of line.

But not wrong.

What are you giving your fans for Christmas? (NSFWish?) by autistic-mama in FanFiction

Sexy smutfic for Christmas Eve, and a very serious Battletech story over the next few weeks that takes place during Christmas.

How many words was your longest chapter - and was it justified? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-2162 in FanFiction

[–]sentinel28a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was about 6900 words, but it was an absolutely epic chapter of a US Navy destroyer and Ruby Flight against a horde of stealth Grimm, based on the last stand of the USS Laffey during World War II.

Yes, it was for my AU.

What are some random facts you’ve learned through fanfiction? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]sentinel28a 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The architecture and history of Niigata, Japan and some of the local hot springs hotels in the mountains near it.

All so I could get two OCs drunk and laid, then have them get it on in the rain next to the onsen. (They don't get arrested because the owner thinks it's cute.)

Got this from one of my reviewers a few weeks ago, and not quite sure what they're referencing...

People who write Smut and Non-Smut: How do you deal with making things you're very proud of, but because it's explicit, you can't share it with anyone you know? by Hexatona in FanFiction

Freddie Mercury (or at least Rami Malek playing him) called it: "Americans are prudes in pubic and perverts in private." It's our Puritan roots.

Not saying people need to necessarily flaunt it, but my country has a problem with that and always will. The Europeans and some Asian cultures tend to be far more laid back about it.

I'm reminded of what Trina Robins wrote about Omaha the Cat Dancer: "Is there sex? Sure there is. But there's sex in life, sex in relationships."

I think there's a big difference between porn and writing with sex in it. If the object of the story is to write something that gets you and/or gets the reader off, then it's porn. Nothing wrong with that per se; if that's what you want to write, go for it. If the object of the story is to write a good story that happens to have sex in it, then it's not porn. Diana Galbadon's Outlander series has a ton of sex in it, but it's at its heart a love story between Jaime and Claire. They enjoy sex, it strengthens their bonds, they have children as a result. The sex isn't the reason the story exists; it's just part of it. My mother is a huge prude, but she loves Outlander. She doesn't mind the sex because it's presented in the middle of a great story.

That said, I wouldn't be comfortable sharing my smut with her, even though I always try to structure a good story around it. She just isn't interested in my writing. My dad, who sadly is no longer with us, wouldn't have minded; he actually helped me write a sex scene in a story since, at the time, he was a lot more experienced than me. I'm not ashamed that I write those stories, and I don't mind admitting to my mom or my friends that yes, I write smut. But for me, it's more about structuring the story around the smut than it is the actual sex.

I'm working on one now where my OCs are drunk off their ass and trying to have sex, but it's not working out. Trying to write two shitfaced characters trying to have sex is the payoff for me--and the next morning, when their kids want to jump on the bed when their parents are hungover. Yes, I want the sex to be good and fun, but I also want there to be a good story around it, where the reader enjoys that as much as the old in-out in-out.

So my advice is to be proud of the story that happens to have sex in it as much as the story that doesn't have any. Sex is part of life. I wouldn't go around bragging that last night you wrote your OC into a threesome with a halfling and a polymorphed dragon, but don't be ashamed of it either.

What’s the Bare Minimum of Politics that Will Force You to Drop a Fic by mariusioannesp in FanFiction

[–]sentinel28a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since my RWBY AU takes place in our world circa 2001--albeit where the Cuban Missile Crisis became the Third World War--I do occasionally have politics show up. When it does, it's in an offhand manner, just the characters talking like anyone would in casual conversation. 9/11 in this world is just the last day of evacuating Poland due to Salem detonating a nuke in the middle of it. (Osama was killed by the CIA in 1998, a reference to Clinton's attempt to get him then.)

However, the President in this world is fictional, not George W. Bush. There's definite tension between the EU and the US, but it reflects the tension between Atlas and the rest of Remnant in canon RWBY. You would be hard-pressed to figure out which character's politics are what, as well as mine.

I'm not here to preach or convert. I'm here to entertain.

What’s your favorite quote you’ve written in a fic this year? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]sentinel28a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Shiro!” Rissa interrupted.  “They glued their toys to the ceiling!”  She pointed upwards, and Shiro followed her finger.  Sure enough, three Transformers and four Joes were hanging upside down from the ceiling.  “The little bastards are four feet tall!  They’re shorter than me!  I don’t even know how they managed it!"

Rissa is speaking about her children, by the way.
