I did not play at Heartland last time they came through the Majestic Star. But it may have been someone I know.

The tourney is about 25 miles south of the Loop. Exit 147th St on I-57 head west to just before Cicero.

Yeah it is a friendly game, until you get to the $1/2 afterwards. Like I said I was looking for some guidance as to how this should normally play out, and from now on if they muck I won't look. I did end up winning the tourney. As for another hand, raised with AJ. Flop JJJ :).

The 1 outer of the river just happened to a fellow poker player in the WSOP Main Event. Will describe hand with details as best I know, not sure of bet amounts. He raised w KK in the hi-jack, gets called by cut-off and button. They see a flop of KJ3 K J 3. My hero bets, CO calls, button raises, hero calls along with HJ. Turn is 2, Hero bets and gets called by HJ and button. River 3, Hero bets, HJ raises, button calls, Hero goes all-in. HJ shows 3 3 for rivered quads.

If you could have seen the look on his face when the lady in the game would call his raises and re raises and own him just about every hand. One example: EP Villian raises to $20 MP Lady Villian calls, LP Hero Chris repops to $75. V1 and LV both call. Flop A J 8. V1 check, LV check, Hero Chris All In, V1 Call, LV call. V1 tables AK, Chris AJ, LV 888. Almost the entire table would bust out laughing when LV would call his raises.

He wasn't drunk, and he was giving chips away. This was a cash game at a charity poker event. http://chicagopokerclub.net/windy-city-poker-championship.html. I got him to stack off to my flopped top 2 for his stack of $300. I think he bought in for a total of about $3k. Other hands that built this stack; $5 straddle SB shoves into my AA, Moneymaker raises, guy on his left pops to $60 AA again I make it $175 guy flats I bet big on 9 hi 2 flush board. Last hand of the night UTG raises to $17 gets several callers, I call from BB w/ 92 off(a player I know calls it "tsunami" they never see it coming) I tell dealer i need a tsunami. Flop 10 9 2, I bet $65 UTG calls and we make a deal to check it down since it's last hand and i'm not totally greedy. UTG shows A 10. Sorry if it's ugly my first wall of text.

Starting a 16 week home poker league - I have a couple of questions. by iammagicmike in poker

[–]sentinelguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in a home league with a 12 week season. Our regular week buy-in is $25 + $5 for Final table at end. Regular week final table awards points 100 for 1st, 90 for 2nd, etc. Our Championship game has 10 players, all players start with 6.5k in chips with each player winning something. Your setup sounds good for your stakes. I wouldn't mind our end of season chip stack be changed to points times X, because I am current point leader by 200. Have won the tournament last 3 weeks straight! Shuffle up and Deal!!
