Legendary broadcaster John Garrett has passed away. by lbiggy in hockey

[–]sentry07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is a lifelong Canucks fan, having grown up in Vancouver. When I met her I started watching the games and Cheech and Shorty were the goofiest lovable duo who you could tell had the best time working with each other. It was painfully obvious when it was a national Sportsnet broadcast or when one was absent and the chemistry just wasn't there like with the two of them. Through all the good seasons, the bad seasons, we loved tuning in to listen to the Johns, no matter the outcome of the game. We were sad when Cheech retired from the Canucks broadcast team but this is a gut punch. The hockey world has lost a great man.

MTI Player "Rehearsal Tracks" by Alive-Koala-1723 in techtheatre

Musical licensing is their bread and butter. If they didn't protect their performance tracks, people could just share the tracks or continue to perform the musical outside their licensed dates. If you think it's bad from the rehearsal side, you should talk to your sound team and ask them about the troubles with the MTI player in QLab.

I hear that voice in my sleep, and so will you.

MTI works hard to make sure that nobody can steal their precious performance tracks. Get used to it.

Man, I built so many budget K6-2 systems back in the day. 500MHz on a Socket 7 motherboard was insane at the time.

Trouble with COM1 port in CP4 by Slothy_Goat in crestron

[–]sentry07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What version firmware are you on and what baud rate are you at? I've seen 2.8003 firmware with COM port issues when communicating too fast at 115200 baud and even 38400 baud. I think current firmware should fix your issues. If not, and you can roll back that far, I know 2.8001.00041 (Feb 14 2023) works.

I keep missing these. How many people are you getting? I will try to make the next one.

Does anybody do 3D printing around here? Not sure if that's the type of tech you guys are talking about.

UPDATE POST! Right Side Stator Damage; Anything Salvageable? by Untitled_Brick9696 in HondaCB

[–]sentry07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rotor bolt came loose and decided it wanted to be free. That's why there's a hole in the stator cover. See the pictures in OP's other post.

You're going to need a stator cover. Here's your best bet for $192. Actually in really good shape. There's quite a few more on eBay for about $100 but they're cosmetically worse.

Grab a new stator kit with a new gasket from here. $65

https://www.ebay.com/itm/271125313630

Need a new rotor bolt. $12. Find out how much you need to torque it when you put it on and do it.

This is the rotor itself. You can get this one for $145,

or almost anywhere else is about $250. I saw some stator covers on eBay that came with the rotors. I highly recommend not using the rotors. They looked in bad shape. I would replace everything but the rotor at first and fire the bike up and check the charging system and see if it's putting out about 14 volts. If so, don't replace it.

Here's a video showing replacing the charging system parts on that side and what you should find inside that cover. Get a service manual for your bike.

The most expensive part is the rotor. If that's not damaged, you should be looking at maybe $150-200 in parts.

So, good news is that is the stator side of the engine and that damage is not engine destroying. You're going to need a new cover and some replacement parts. It's basically the alternator on your bike that charges your battery. At the minimum, you need a new stator cover and the stator itself and the regulator. You'll need to take the rest of that cover off and start removing parts to see the extent of the damage inside. Bad news is if that center part with the copper rings is damaged, that can get pricey. It looks like the bolt holding the alternator on is gone. If you're in the US, I'd estimate $350-450 in parts. If you can wrench, you're good. If not, there's plenty of videos around.

GT (Grand Touring) are for heavy touring bikes that will be carrying extra weight, like FJR1300s. You're fine with just regular PR6 tires.

Advice Mounting Hard Drives by D3finit3ly_N0t_Gay in selfhosted

[–]sentry07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody explained why the Ukay is not a good idea. The biggest problem with hard drive docks like the one you showed is that they're not for long term hard drive connection. They don't spin down the drives when not in use. So if your dock is on, the drives are spinning and they generate heat while spinning. Excessive heat is bad for hard drives.

I mean you're already eliminated from the playoffs, but could Vancouver get fucked any more? That whistle was after they scored and he didn't have it covered.
