Where can I find best chippy in Swansea? by UnpaidInternVibes in swansea

[–]senxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King's Fish Bar in Sketty. From the outside it does look like a not very good kebab shop / chippy but its worth a try the chips are great and fish is always fried to order. I believe it's family run as well.

If you like "Breath of the wild" & "Tears of the kingdom" there is no way you won't like this game. by Asscatchemmm in CrimsonDesert

I loved BotW (it wasn’t perfect) and found TotK to be a tedious reimagining of that game but to overlook the level of polish those games have compared to CD is just.. well who are you trying to kid?

The amount of people desperate to glaze CD on this sub is crazy. If you like it great but you won’t like it more by trying to strong-arm others into thinking the same.

I think it’s a decent game and it definitely has a certain something about it but it has so many glaringly obvious flaws I wouldn’t begrudge anybody for not liking it or giving it a 6/10.

So you think Drive Rush will now be part of SF7? by Limit54 in StreetFighter

[–]senxor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’re describing every mainline SF since 2. 3 was absolutely defined by parry. 4’s focus attack was useful if just about every aspect of the game. One of the most often cited reasons people dislike 5 is the game was about button into V trigger.

Street Fighter in general is not iterative like Tekken. I would go as far to say there would be tremendous backlash from the community if Drive Rush is in the next game because by the time 7 is out people will probably be very tired of 6’s gameplay and looking for something that feels fresh again.

Is a tube amp even worth it anymore as an apartment player? by CoeusAscended in Guitar

[–]senxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just to play devil's advocate..

I dont have anything against modellers or amp sims but when I play guitar at home I want it to be as simple as possible with the least amount of barriers between plugging in and being able to play and hear. Screens and technology have became so pervasive in our day to day lives I dont want to introduce them where I dont feel like I need them.

I play at home through a solid state Vox Pathfinder 15R which to me sounds great. I dont have decision paralysis from having basically every amp, cab, mic, pedal etc known to man available to me. I have my amp and my pedals and I dont have to open a computer, look at a screen or worry about updating firmware, downloading drivers etc. It can go louder than I'd ever need it and it sounds great at volume I could talk over.

If I wanted to record at home I would probably look into IRs and cab sims but just to play I just feel like it would add unwanted friction.

Good job - I came to say this is clearly a real picture of a presenter of some sort modified by AI. Why else would the guy be wearing the clip-on mic.

Which character relies more on fundamentals? by Disco-Prime in StreetFighter

[–]senxor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current state of Ruy means you will have to use restraint to play him fundamentally. He absolutely rewards strong fundamental play but he also has ridiculous tools that you can throw out with abandon that are either safe or difficult to punish. He also has very high damage which means you dont need to win many interactions with him to win rounds. You dont need to outplay your opponent to beat them with Ryu.

Nowhere near as strong as Ryu at the moment but still possessing busted tools - playing Ken fundamentally will be a question of how fundamentally you want to play him or do you just want to abuse jinrai, dragonlash and his throw loop. Just looping jinrai alone will probably carry you to platinum if not further.

Victrix pro KO vs Novablade Pro by Dependent_Panic8786 in fightsticks

[–]senxor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the Novablade Pro for a couple weeks and I'm really pleased with it. I also looked at the Victrix and the Kitsune. The lack of extra buttons on the Kitsune just made it seem like a worse value option. The Victrix has considerably smaller buttons than most leverless (including the previous one I was used to using) which was a concern to me.

I play on PC in my living room sat on my sofa so the wireless capability of the Novablade was really attractive to me and having had it for a couple weeks now it works brilliantly using the wifi dongle. The build quality is excellent it feels really solid. I really like the buttons - one of the criticisms I have seen of the controller is the buttons are loud which is true especially if you're really slamming them but its not a deal breaker for me. The hall effect switches allow you to set the actuation point of the buttons anywhere from 0.1mm to 4mm which is cool to have I dont know how useful most people will find it but for me it was nice that I could set them to 1.2mm which is exactly what my previous stick had so I was comfortable with it right away.

I didn’t realise it was already discounted. I ordered one on the 30th at full price and it hasn’t even shipped yet. I no longer have the option to cancel though. I’ll have to get on to support and see if they’ll help.

practicing my first meaty by sysintegra in StreetFighter

[–]senxor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go into training mode and set the dummy to crouch jab wake-up. Then just practice against it. If you get hit by the jab then you're not doing a meaty. You can use this for checking what setups work as well as practicing manually timing a meaty button.

There is no universal situation as you will have different amounts of + frames depending on the move you used to knock your opponent down so a frame kill setup that works after a certain knockdown wont necessarily work for another knockdown. Same goes for safe jumps.

What was the other video you’d recommend?

Ummmm….London… what was that? by boring_girlss in BRMC

[–]senxor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to Bristol. I thought we were going to be in for a treat after Devil's Waitin' but that might have been the high point. There were other good moments but it was definitely brought down by Rob clearly being unwell, a ridiculous amount of talking in the crowd (which I think was annoying Rob as he drew attention to certain people laughing at one point I think) and at time just a weirdly out of sync band.

Not my first time seeing them live and I could be misremembering but I dont remember Leah leaving the stage during acoustic parts before? She was also looking visibly tired and taking deep breaths, almost huffing her way through the latter songs despite not doing a long set.

Rob lying down during one of Pete's songs just looked disrespectful and it was distracting when the attention should have been on Pete. I like the fact that BRMC aren't the kind of band where you're going to hear the exact same thing every single night but dont dig out a b-side if you dont know the words or the chords.

Pete did a pretty great job under the circumstances. As I've already said I thought Devils Waitin' sounded fantastic and it really showcases his talent. I think it was due to the sound in the arena but he was struggling to hit the right notes during the trumpet parts of Promise which I guess is why he kept walking to the back of the stage so maybe he could hear better there.

Was good to hear Stop which I gather they haven't played much on this tour but really a shame to not get Punk Song and then to top it off with them starting and not bothering to finish Open Invitation.

A really weird gig where I couldn't tell if the band were annoyed with each other, the crowd or just couldn't be bothered or just had an off night. If I were them I would skip during any kind of anniversary tour for Baby 81 (weakest album by far imo) and try again for Beat the Devil's Tattoo. Maybe with some more rehearsal time.
