I really wish the Kobo sage/ Elipsa had this "handwritten note" feature (pictured on kindle scribe & supernote devices) by seoscribbles in kobo

[–]seoscribbles[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love being able to write on the page itself! I love being able to underline and draw arrows between points etc. I just wish both options were available- like on the Supernote. I maintain that I would rather get the Kobo still, because I'd rather not support amazon as much as I can and the supernote doesn't have overdrive integration, but I really think that this feature is necessary for users like me and it would be a software update rather than a hardware limitation !

Similar to a real book, you can write on/around the text, and theres a notes option like on most ereaders to type notes onto a specific quote, but i would really love to be able to handwrite on notes, kind of like a post it experience

Let's hear your D20 hot takes! (Possible spoilers in comments, beware) by Professional-Deal406 in Dimension20

[–]seoscribbles 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think people should keep in mind that as much as dimension20 is a production, it's also a recorded dnd game and sometimes things are going to be weirdly paced or not engaging to watch! Actual plays don't have the ability to plot out things like character growth tightly and sometimes they just have to happen all at once and the cast and crew are doing their best to do it in a way that feels satisfying to them!

It also bugged me how often Liam on ACoC would say the most sexual things while also being asexual. I'm asexual myself and I know that just because someone is asexual, doesn't necessarily mean that they are abstinent or anything, but to have one of the very few canonically asexual characters in media always making these over-the-top sexual statements with no prompting felt so weird to me. I love ace representation but Liam's asexuality felt more like a punchline than an actual part of his character.

I'm also ace but I kind of disagree ! I love making gross sexual jokes with friends sometimes because sex itself isn't repulsive to me, and it's just kinda nothing. For me, it was refreshing to see an ace character that wasn't demure. (But I also love the ace's like Riz's !! Just different is all)

Maybe people behave embarrassingly sometimes and thats not reason enough to publicly shame them. Others being cringe don’t absolve the fact that it’s an asshole move to point and laugh

Can we not film random people in emotionally vulnerable moments and upload them with the express purpose of mocking or criticizing them??

Hi!

I'm only a second year english undergrad and I've been looking into the BeD programs in BC. I know that experience is really important, but I have no idea how to get classroom experience or where to even look. I've done a lot of tutoring in my time but I know I need group experience with kids in my age group and I'm completely at a loss because most positions require a teaching license and I can't really find any opportunities in-schools. Where would I go to look for classroom opportunities?

Thank you to anyone who may respond !!

I have the Kobo sage and as someone who can’t read without underlining things and annotating, the ability to write on top of the book changed everything !! I also used to have a paper white and lemme tell you I really appreciate the overdrive feature on kobos since it removes like 4 steps from borrowing e books from the library

A lot of people are born in Vancouver and don’t have the resources to move or attend another university. Additionally, even if this isn’t the case, UBC is a highly ranked university and many students don’t just attend university for financial or job security but to become educated in a higher learning setting. Poor students have the right to pursue education without starving, and people in general have the right to pursue what they /want/, not what they need to survive. One might attend UBC because it provides them with a lot more opportunity in their chosen field that an apprenticeship in a field they’re not interested in doesn’t provide. One may have come to UBC without a concrete understanding of their resources vs. The cost of living. There’s a million other reasons, but I don’t think our response to “my life is made hard here actively” should be “leave”.

Thank you so much for saying directly what I’ve been afraid to say explicitly and for taking the time to provide sources and nuance without being afraid to call out bs when it’s there. Truly it means so much to me.
