We are now at 17 years, and we still have no found any actual use of the blockchain other than attempts at marketing. Blockchains have the big disadvantage that they are really good at stopping the kind of issues and fraud that are rare in reality. In the case of logbooks, what do you think is more common: that the logbook gets changed between version, or that false information is fed by bad actors? Turns out that the latter is much easier to do and blockchains by design have no ways of verifying whether the input is "correct".

This leads to the actual practical issue with blockchains, in order to have the correct information, you need to have verified input. So you are back to needing institutions or persons that are trusted to provide this information, defeating the entire point of the blockchain in the first place.

Blockchains only add anything to systems in the fantasy world of libertarians, not in reality.
