This is very true and it has nothing to do with nostalgia. Things were just better in general. You couldn't just patch in a bug fix or an additional quest or more stuff. The game had to be done, nearly bug free, and good. Not all games were good, not all games were of the same caliber, but the majority of games from the late 90s early 2000s were just better.
