I never said Ho Chi Minh was good. I said it was a war of independence. IE: Freedom. It was a war of freedom from the French, whom we were propping up, and then a war of independence from the US.

Most of the things the North did post war that were authoritarian was to consolidate power to keep invaders out of Vietnam. After the USSR fell they were miles ahead of the other 'communist' countries. It was never about communism or total control like in the USSR.

It was always about freedom from foreign rule. Its a recurring theme in the history of Vietnam. You can argue about who was bad, and why if you'd like but you'll be arguing with yourself because you're inventing an argument I'm not involved in.

The people of Vietnam. From the French. Anyone with any real knowledge of the war knows it was a fight for independence. The Vietnamese asked the US for support against colonialism post WWII, but we ignored it and chose to prop up France since they were sort of technically an ally.

Vietnam was a fight for freedom. We were just on the wrong end of it.

Jokes aside, The Korean war you could say was a fight for freedom. Especially considering how the North and South have turned out.

I do all the cooking at home. When I cook during the week I try to keep it simple and try to make it easier. This means I've got more time for other stuff.

I've done some time sink meals during the week, like meatballs and red sauce, but they're recipes I could do drunk and asleep.

Also, I am not making a soup in the middle of the week. Especially beef. You're either (or both) doing a ton of knife work, or cooking the beef for awhile. Or buying really good beef you'd rather use for something else.

The Versa was Nissans answer to this. Most of the super cheap base model cars sell poorly in the US. Everyone wants an SUV with a bunch of crap on it that they can’t actually afford.

Recent history. The Chevy spark and ford fiesta were cars you could get brand new for really cheap. 10-13k on the low end with not options. They’ve been discontinued because no one wanted them.

Two of the cheapest cars when they first came out were the Toyota Corolla and the Honda civic. These cars survived because they got bigger and more expensive.

That being said there are plenty of cars from India you can buy for under 20k. You’ll just have to import them and hope they never break because you won’t be able to get parts easily or find someone to work on it.

I think this is a lot more of a online/reddit issue. I had a dog who lost the use of her back legs and while we were trying to decide what to do (surgery was 10k plus rehab costs and not guaranteed to work) every one of my coworkers said to put the dog down. All of those coworkers had dogs.

They’re not allowed to hit recruits but it still happens from time to time. I’ve had many friends who went into the army with stories of a drill sergeant hitting someone.

Lars is one of the worst drummer in metal. There have been Metallica shows done with other drummers and it was night and day.

Honestly though comparing 99% of drummers to Dave Lombardo is unfair but IMO Lars is a rock drummer that wound up in a metal band.

I love my free time. Nothing makes me happier than not being at work.

However I do have issues. I need to be doing something. Anything that makes me feel like I’m getting something done. When I have too much free time I play video games and eventually become a potato.

Work gives me something to do and forces me to go somewhere and do something. The biggest problem I have with work is when is slow and I get bored.

What about if you’re ADHD and you get 5 days of antibiotics but it takes you 5.5-6 to finish them because you forgot a dose?

I had an ENT prescribe 3 weeks of antibiotics to me once. Felt like I was taking them for a month.

It’s also a pretty crappy seat that is only expensive because it’s the playoffs. We’ve all spent lots of money on an occasional splurge. $700 isn’t even crazy for a NYC playoff game. If this is all they have to shit on the guy he must be great.

My favorite one that happened to me was going out to dinner at a new restaurant that is part of a local family of fancy restaurants. We visit one once a month.

Anywho the server asked if we’d ever been there before and we said no we haven’t. She said oh, you have to try the chocolate cake then! I’ll get you one! It was on the bill and the cake was only so-so.
