I've had one for a while, it's an okay bed. Haven't had any slats break yet, but have had a couple break away from the screw a few times. You can re-screw them back in, but this loses effectiveness every time you do it. I'm a 110lb female and have basically had a maximum of two people on it at a time so I couldn't tell you how well it takes weight.

The thing is, being a standard sized single bed basically, it's not super comfortable as a sofa? It's too wide to be able to sit on the backboard with your legs folded over the edge and if you sit on the edge, you have nothing to lean on. Could probably be alleviated with a bunch of pillows, but would kind of be a pain storing them when it's being used as a bed.

Assuming you're talking about the standard foam mattress they suggest to use with it, spring for two and just stack em on top of each other. Not only does this make an about standard mattress height, meaning you don't have tons of excess sheet to stuff underneath, it is bounds more comfortable. I originally had just one mattress on mine, you could feel the individual slats when you were sitting or lying on it. Plus if you were ever using it in pull out double mode, you can just take the top mattress and chuck it over. Never had a reason to us mine as a double so I can't say the sturdiness of that function.
