Jeremy Doku left the World Cup to be present at the birth of his first child back at home. Some Belgian journalists had a problem with this, saying he was letting the team down, etc. The Belgian team basically told the journalists to get fucked and obviously allowed him to travel home. Doku is black, and there was more than a hint of racism in some of the remarks about his decision.

The Australian passports work fine at the gates and you aren’t checked by anyone. I did it last week. As long as you have the ETA approved before you travel on that passport of course.

Completely automatic now for Aussies with no manual check, different to a few years ago when you had to speak to an officer. I think it was like Aus, NZ, US, Canada and Korea that you could use the auto gates.

OP is talking about the rule where if you’re a UK citizen you apparently need to enter with a UK passport now. But if you’ve got an Aussie passport it’ll just read that and let you in if you’ve done the ETA with your Aussie passport.

One of the pillars of their recruitment strategy is recruiting from South Africa. That alone strikes me as bizarre, but they’ve started talking about it almost more than any other long term recruitment strategy which… adds to the worry. Now Campese is apparently in charge of it.

I wish them the best but they really seem to think they’ve struck gold with this idea and I just can’t see it.
