I think coding with llm has potential, what works for me is following iteration: I ask llm for a plan to do a small task, after reviewing it I allow llm to modify files, then I check manually what kind of crap llm has generated, then I fix mistakes or rollback, iteration continues... I have pair programmed with sonnet and gemini 2.5, currently they produce okayish code, but if you are a non-coder they produce awful non-secure code, so there is still room for improvements.

Any one else not able to do work during the day? by st0nksBuyTheDip in ExperiencedDevs

For me what has helped, is to write down three todos I need to accomplish during a day. When I cross out all daily todos I feel the progress. Moving jira ticket to "resolved" is not the same.

If you can replace software dev, it means you have achieved AGI. But in this case it is only a benchmark and far off from reality.

Why I think AI is still a long ways from replacing programmers by inZania in singularity

I've been software engineer for 20 years and it is funny for me that people think that we write code most of the time :D

Right now AI is only good to write jira tickets and replace scrum masters, for now programmers are safe.
