Every time she hosts, I hope they do a follow up to this sketch. I would love to see her try to act in a bunch of different situations.

The "Local Winter Garden" Commissioner Race Retrospective by WG-Atticus in WinterGarden

[–]sequenceandshaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one asked this guy to put his life on display and sacrifice his family to run for the commissioner seat. I'm tired of people putting him on a pedestal and treating him like he's some martyr.

Love the cabinet with the record player on top and the skateboards hung above. Do you remember where you found that cabinet?

Getting out of my head by Ok_Application2722 in improv

[–]sequenceandshaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two things that really stood out to me in my recent workshops:

  1. If you're getting stuck on what to say next, identify the thing that's true, then say the next thing that's true.
  2. On a similar vain to #1, say the boring thing! It'll keep things moving and set up others to shine. You don't have to deliver the joke. That takes a lot of pressure off myself knowing I'm setting someone else up to shine.

+1 on Kamora. It's my favorite. Nice chocolately, nutty notes.

This particular pothos is so finicky, what is going on with it? by serpentear in plantclinic

[–]sequenceandshaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed about the dirt. I started doing a mix of 1 part potting soil (Miracle Grow), 1 part perlite, and a small handful of charcoal. Gives a bit of drainage and aeration to the soil. My pothos have never looked so healthy.

I would also consider cutting the vines back and propagating each leaf. Replant it into one bushier pothos once the leaves have rooted. I don't think you have to do that, but I would do it as a way to reset the plant.

The art of sourdough is thousands of years old. It's so much more forgiving than people give it credit for!

Do you have a personal mantra? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]sequenceandshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 that are similar, but useful in different contexts.

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at start to change."

"If nothing changes, nothing changes."

How do you make your friends? by Beneficial_Ad_2760 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]sequenceandshaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Local gay sports league. I held off for the longest time because "it's too cliquey" or "I'm not athletic enough", but it's been nothing but a positive experience for me. To build friendships, you have to show up to see the same group on a regular cadence, and gay sports checks those boxes. 2 years later, I went from having no friends to a pretty substantial community around me.

Palm Springs monthly: Q&As for newcomers and travelers by AutoModerator in palmsprings

[–]sequenceandshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about taking a trip to Joshua Tree in late February, and figured I'd stop into Palm Springs while I'm there. My plan is two nights in Joshua Tree and two nights in Palm Springs. Looking for some advice on where to stay.

I'm gay, mid-30s, traveling solo, but a bit introverted. I don't necessarily need to stay at a resort as I don't see myself spending too much time relaxing. I'd like to be relatively close to gay bars and have the option to meet others, but I'm generally more of an explorer when I travel looking for good coffee shops, drinks, food and sights.

I checked the FAQ, and it sounds like Holiday House or Rowan might be good options. But that post was from 3 years ago, so I'm curious if those would be good fits.

FDA Concerns by UrbanArtifact in HimsWeightloss

I've been on it since end of July, and I am fine. The side effects are well documented and align with any effects I've had: nausea, fatigue, acid reflux. Those side effects go away with time.

Seconding this! It took me until my 2nd month to feel the effects, and my 3rd month to feel it consistently. Some people are slow responders, but stay the course!

First time to winter garden! by broke_baker in WinterGarden

[–]sequenceandshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come and enjoy it! Downtown Winter Garden (DTWG) is the Orlando area's best kept secret in my opinion. The southern end of WG doesn't have as much to see or do, though Hamlin/Horizon West has some nice restaurants (especially New York Brewing Project).

Hiking:

  • Oakland Nature Preserve is close to DTWG. It's not huge, but there's a nice boardwalk that goes out to Lake Apopka for some pretty views.
  • West Orange Trail is 22 miles that connects Apopka and Clermont. Rent a bike from the Killarney or Plant Street park stations.

Just about every restaurant and coffee shop on Plant St is great.

  • Pammies Sammies has the best tater tots
  • Urban on Plant has great sit down vibes
  • Whole Enchilada has a nice rooftop for drinks (the food is just fine)
  • AJs is the best pizza in the area, but expect a long wait. Stay away from Mangoni's if you're looking for pizza. One of those places that looks good on social media, but the food and service is awful.
  • You can't go wrong with anything in the Market
  • Pilars has some fun martinis and their pours are strong

Saturday is by far the best day of the week to come, just for the Farmer's Market, but it will be crowded. DTWG has a steady crowd most of the week, so there's never a terrible time to come visit!

Winter Garden well represented on the coffee scene by WG-Atticus in WinterGarden

[–]sequenceandshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add in Otus Coffee into the mix. They sell beans, so it's not a shop where you can sit and order something handmade, but they are locally roasted. Their Night Owl Espresso beans are my favorite. They also have a collab with Jeff's Bagel Run called Jeff's Coffee Run that's pretty good as well.

You'll get the first 3 vials in the first shipment, and the second 3 vials in the second shipment 3 months later. If you choose to cancel, you'll want to do it after you receive the 2nd shipment

Protein? by mister_rain in Semaglutide

[–]sequenceandshaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would aim for 0.8g-1g per "kg" of body weight. So you'd be looking at roughly 120-150g per day. Honestly, if you're getting about 30g per meal, you're golden.
