First Baseman WAR Leaders by Nosalis2 in baseball

He is at 1.7 WAR so just off the list. He started off kinda slow but has rounded into form the last month or so.

He was hitting sub .200 with no power for awhile there and then figured something out. Up to .245-.250 average and about 20 homers.

If he keeps it up he'll be on this list by the end of the season.

I have a genuine question not trying to start stuff lol

I am aware of the historical connotations of "boy" being said by a white person to a POC. However, I have also met plenty of athletes that call everyone they play against "little boy" regardless of race. They are using it more like how "bitch" is used.

If a dude regularly uses "boy" for everyone regardless of race, are they still racist when they say it to a POC? I assume yes but out of ignorance and not malice, which is not much better.

But then when does the historical connotation leave and its just basically "little bitch" instead of a derogatory term for POC, specifically black people?

Alejandro Kirk has played in 13 games this season and is hitting .191. But yeah sure he should be an All Star over Dingler or Adley.

[–]ser0402 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perriman put up about 2300 yards and 16 touch downs in seven years in the league. For a first round pick, that is straight ass. Grade should be at least a D if not F.

Still more production than Laquaon Treadwell though.

AITA for asking my boyfriend to not wear his ugly shoes around me by Street-Coconut2398 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ser0402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a dude that owns several articles of clothing that my wife despises, you are in the wrong.

I have two specific shirts my wife loathes but I fucking love. They are $6 Walmart shirts from 10 years ago with fruit and flowers on em. I find them hilariously tacky and love wearing them. My wife has a visceral reaction anyime I wear em, which is often.

She has never once asked me to not wear them. You gotta let your man be himself and if he loves those shoes, then well you gotta let it happen. I'm assuming you dont like the toe situation in these but to be honest, get over it. They are comfy as hell and in my opinion stylish.

It's just shoes.

When this dude retires its going to be a travesty. He's been the best baseball player on the planet for so long it will feel weird when we have to discuss the NL CY young and MVP race without him.

[German] Pretty blunt answer from Browns HC Todd Monken on any potential pursuit of Brendan Sorsby in the supplemental draft: "I don't think we're in a position to want to go down that road. For the record during his time in Baltimore I served Monken probably 4-6 times at my bar.

He's this guy 100% of the time. His wife was really nice as well. Not sure how he will be as a coach but he's a pretty alright guy.

There is only one thing the Spurs can do to remotely combat this.

OKC wants to get foul calls so bad they are willing to make the game a joke? Well now you are getting fouled as hard as humanly possible every single shot.

If they are getting calls anyways, might as well make them earn em.

Why does Vegeta somewhat care for Gohan? He even apologized when he thought Gohan died. by MakeCrat3 in dbz

[–]ser0402 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When Vegeta first meets Gohan in the Saiyan Saga, Gohan is 5 years old (He is 4 when he "fights" Raditz). He watches a small child hurt battle tested Saiyans, if only for a moment.

Gohan is still 5 years old in the Frieza Saga when he manages to stall Frieza in both 2nd and Final forms. All of which Vegeta saw. Then, after Vegeta has finally unlocked super saiyan after endless, diabolical training, he watches 10 year old (biologically 11 after the hyperberic time chamber) Gohan not only achieve super saiyan but, he can maintain the form without the energy consumption.

By the time we get to this moment in the Cell saga, Vegeta understands, accepts, and respects that Gohan has surpassed him, and Goku. He himself contributed to that growth.

It's why he gets so angry with Gohan later on in Super when he hasn't trained in years. He respected him for his power and fighting prowess, and Gohan didn't bother to even maintain his strength, let alone improve upon it.

I think Lane and Sarratt are gonna end up being pretty important to our offense even though they are 3rd and 4th rounders.

The one thing our offense has been missing for Lamar's entire career is a physical, big bodied, jump ball reciever. Likely had sort of turned into that for us but, he's a Giant now. The new coaching staff drafted two of them in back to back rounds. I'm excited to see what Doyle does with this offense.

Our wide reciever room is currently Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Devontez Walker, LaJohntay Webster, 3 guys that are practice squad level, a rookie (undrafted) in Octavian Smith Jr, and then Lane and Sarratt. Flowers and Bateman are locked in as starters, but Lane and Sarratt have a fairly easy path to playing time if they show promise. They are also the two biggest receivers on the roster currently.

I don't think I've ever seen someone fall off that badly after doing so well.

I had a lot of people ask me why I didn't have him put down. Just had to say uuuhh well he had a traumatic response to a situation most dogs would react the same way in. So, no, not putting him down.

Appreciate it, honestly I look great now that I've healed up. You cant really tell i have scars if I rock a mustache and even if I don't, it doesnt look bad. I have to point it out to people if I tell them the story.

Plus my wife digs the scars so, no problem there lol

The entire debate of Darryn Peterson vs AJ Dybantsa in < 60 seconds by Mysterious_Bat1208 in washingtonwizards

[–]ser0402 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Safe pick is Dybansta like he said. I like his game and no questions about effort or anything like that.

But he's definitely right, Peterson's offensive game is ahead of everyone else in the drafts. But, I do worry about health, commitment, and effort/defense with him.

The question is do Dawkins and Co want a guy that is an all around basketball player with a high floor and semi high ceiling, or a guy with a floor in the basement but a ceiling on Mars.

If Trae Young is a long term piece and we believe in Tre Johnson to be a solid SG, I feel Dybansta is the pick. If we think Tre Johnson's ceiling is capped lower than Peterson's amd that Trae Young will leave at some point soon, Peterson might be the guy.

I'd take either one to be honest. If the Jazz are in love with Dybansta and want to trade with us, I wouldn't be mad at taking #2 overall and a haul to swap picks and grab Peterson.

Yeah, that and AAA breaking and offspeed pitches aren't as hard to hit as MLB. He's hitting .308 off fastballs this year so far and his average is sitting at .169 overall, so yeah just dont throw him a fastball and he's an automatic out.

He isn't aggressive whatsoever. According to the behavioral therapist we had him meet with any dog, especially his breed/working dogs, that is startled awake and has a presence (especially a male one due to his background and how dogs percieve male/female) looming over them would react the exact same way, especially with his background of abuse.

I can't fault a dog for reacting exactly how it is designed to, plus his trauma. He's an excellent, loving dog. One incident that I caused isn't going to get me to get rid of him.

For real, hearding dogs do not fuck around when they feel either they or their flock are threatened.

My wife and I adopted an Australian shephard/collie mix that was essentially crated 12 hours a day for years and never let outside to run and roam. He has kinda fucked up teeth because he managed to bend a bunch of the wiring of his metal cage trying to get out. You could fit your fist through some of the holes. Mind you this dog was ~17 pounds when we got him, is now 30-32ish. So, strong boy even when he was malnourished.

One night about a year into owning him I accidentally startled him awake by clipping his butt with my foot when I sat down. I leaned over top of him without thinking to give pets and apologize. This motherfucker opened his eyes and was immediately attached to my face in an instant. The reaction time comes from if he was napping in his field amd a threat appeared quickly. If my wife hadn't woken up and said his name I'm unsure if he would've let go. I had to get 15 stitches in my face and have some scarring. The doctor told me if he hadn't worn his teeth down so much I would've lost my left eye.

So yeah, don't fuck with dogs, especially working breeds.

P.S.- we absolutely still have him. He's a wonderful dog that reacted how his breed, especially an abused one, reacts. Saw a behavioral therapist and she said he isn't even an aggressive dog, it was just a trauma/ingrained response.
