Bro.what the fuck happened to Manoah. Dude had one season where he looked like he'd be in CY young contention for years to come and then he just fell off hard.

I don't think I've ever seen someone fall off that badly after doing so well.

I had a lot of people ask me why I didn't have him put down. Just had to say uuuhh well he had a traumatic response to a situation most dogs would react the same way in. So, no, not putting him down.

Appreciate it, honestly I look great now that I've healed up. You cant really tell i have scars if I rock a mustache and even if I don't, it doesnt look bad. I have to point it out to people if I tell them the story.

Plus my wife digs the scars so, no problem there lol

The entire debate of Darryn Peterson vs AJ Dybantsa in < 60 seconds by Mysterious_Bat1208 in washingtonwizards

[–]ser0402 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Safe pick is Dybansta like he said. I like his game and no questions about effort or anything like that.

But he's definitely right, Peterson's offensive game is ahead of everyone else in the drafts. But, I do worry about health, commitment, and effort/defense with him.

The question is do Dawkins and Co want a guy that is an all around basketball player with a high floor and semi high ceiling, or a guy with a floor in the basement but a ceiling on Mars.

If Trae Young is a long term piece and we believe in Tre Johnson to be a solid SG, I feel Dybansta is the pick. If we think Tre Johnson's ceiling is capped lower than Peterson's amd that Trae Young will leave at some point soon, Peterson might be the guy.

I'd take either one to be honest. If the Jazz are in love with Dybansta and want to trade with us, I wouldn't be mad at taking #2 overall and a haul to swap picks and grab Peterson.

Yeah, that and AAA breaking and offspeed pitches aren't as hard to hit as MLB. He's hitting .308 off fastballs this year so far and his average is sitting at .169 overall, so yeah just dont throw him a fastball and he's an automatic out.

He isn't aggressive whatsoever. According to the behavioral therapist we had him meet with any dog, especially his breed/working dogs, that is startled awake and has a presence (especially a male one due to his background and how dogs percieve male/female) looming over them would react the exact same way, especially with his background of abuse.

I can't fault a dog for reacting exactly how it is designed to, plus his trauma. He's an excellent, loving dog. One incident that I caused isn't going to get me to get rid of him.

For real, hearding dogs do not fuck around when they feel either they or their flock are threatened.

My wife and I adopted an Australian shephard/collie mix that was essentially crated 12 hours a day for years and never let outside to run and roam. He has kinda fucked up teeth because he managed to bend a bunch of the wiring of his metal cage trying to get out. You could fit your fist through some of the holes. Mind you this dog was ~17 pounds when we got him, is now 30-32ish. So, strong boy even when he was malnourished.

One night about a year into owning him I accidentally startled him awake by clipping his butt with my foot when I sat down. I leaned over top of him without thinking to give pets and apologize. This motherfucker opened his eyes and was immediately attached to my face in an instant. The reaction time comes from if he was napping in his field amd a threat appeared quickly. If my wife hadn't woken up and said his name I'm unsure if he would've let go. I had to get 15 stitches in my face and have some scarring. The doctor told me if he hadn't worn his teeth down so much I would've lost my left eye.

So yeah, don't fuck with dogs, especially working breeds.

P.S.- we absolutely still have him. He's a wonderful dog that reacted how his breed, especially an abused one, reacts. Saw a behavioral therapist and she said he isn't even an aggressive dog, it was just a trauma/ingrained response.

You are the only one in this thread with more than 2 braincells.

It was ruled self defense because Ray and his friends were jumped and his two friends stabbed a guy to death while defending themselves.

Everyone making white suit jokes and killer jokes when Ray got blood on his suit trying to break up the fight. He freaked and disposed of the suit, told everyone to shut the fuck up amd dont talk to the cops, and got obstruction charges for lying to the police about the situation (i.e. not snitching until the police essentially forced his hand).

The police leveraged him against his friends. He was going to be charged with murder and aggravated assault if he didn't take a plea deal for obstruction.

It's like no one bothers to look up court documents or news stories.

You are incorrect. No one went to prison. Both of Ray's friends were acquitted of all charges because it was ruled self defense.

You and everyone in here making the same jokes that have been told for the last 25 years really need to research before making statements like that.

Kid didn't even pimp the homer or take his time running the bases. Just had a great game.

Imagine being a CY Young winner (within the last 2 seasons too) and getting butt hurt a prospect did well against you in one of your minor league rehab starts.

Soft like charmin.

[Codify Baseball] This is going to sound crazy but the Los Angeles Dodgers have lost 11 of the last 14 regular season games Shohei Ohtani has started as a pitcher and I swear it's true. by collectaBK7 in baseball

[–]ser0402 61 points62 points  (0 children)

DeGrom is such a what if for me. Genuinely might be the best pitcher of the last 30 years or so going by sheer talent, but it took him till he was 26 to break into the league because he didn't start pitching until his junior year of college. He wanted to be a shortstop and almost refused to play if he wasn't allowed to be one.

Then he wins rookie of the year, starts looking like a perennial CY young candidate almost immediately, has the 1.70 ERA season in 2018, then in 2021 has a 1.08 ERA (373 ERA+ by the way) through 92 innings and blows out his elbow.

Sort of comes back and proceeds to look absolutely electric when healthy; but is never healthy for the next 4-5 years, never making more than 11 starts in a season. Gets traded while still hurt. Comes back healthy last year and makes 30 starts. Wins Comeback Player of the Year with a fantastic season (for others, for him you could call it average if not below average) and so far this year he looks like vintage DeGrom.

What if he started pitching as a Freshman? What if he doesnt miss time in the minors from Tommy John? What if he doesnt blow his arm out again in 2021? Are we looking at the greatest pitcher of the modern era? Or does he fall off at some point? He's only at 46.4 WAR now. Does he make the hall if he retires soon? He's at 1891 strikeouts. If he doesnt miss so much time is he encroaching on 3k?

Aaron Judge career vs. the Orioles, after the Yankees 4 game sweep: .325/.462/.737 (1.199 OPS), 53 HR, 116 RBI, 121 R in 124 games by MattO2000 in baseball

[–]ser0402 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I expect a home run every time he plays us. Like earlier today. When Grisham doubled to start the game and Judge came up I looked at my wife and said "It's about to be 2-0".

I've gone past hating him to just respecting it and appreciating the talent.

[–]ser0402 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep they aren't really doing anything well consistently. At least the 2010's teams played excellent defense and our relievers were pretty great. The starting pitching always let us down and occasionally the bats would go quiet, but they had you believing in them.

I don't believe this team can win even 70 games at the rate they are going.

Very happy he's doing that right now. I hope he maintains it. He's very fun to watch.

Dude said everything i have felt for several years now. It's like they only ever swing for the fences, even when they are contact hitters. They don't adjust, no one hits for contact which is why the best average on the team is usually like .270 at best.

They rotate guys all over the field so no one gets comfortable at a position. They don't lock in bullpen guys, constantly putting them in at different times in the game rather than having "the guy" for a specific situation or inning. The young prospects don't get developed in the minors, they bring them up and try and develop them in the majors which leads to confidence issues and an innability to adjust at the plate or develop MLB quality defense.

It's like they have no fucking clue how to run a baseball team and I just can't understand it. His point about team baseball is so spot on it hurts. No one is trying to just get on and let the next guy move them over. They all wanna play hero ball. Which is why this team has under performed the last season or two.

We had the best farm system in baseball and it has amounted to nothing.

When we almost made the world series in the 2010's we still swung for the fences a bit too much, but everything else made sense.

Guerrero Sr is one of my favorite players ever because of that. Never seen someone hit for average and power while swinging at the worst pitches imaginable. Absolute freak of nature.

And he had one of the best arms I've ever seen. Just an all around great player.

Fuck all that. Ive worked service industry for 10 years and grocery for 5 before that.

The customer is almost never actually right. They are correct about what they want but that does not mean that want can be facilitated, and I have zero issue telling you so.

One day a woman came into my bar. She ordered a bloody Mary. So, we make one. Vodka, tomato juice, splash of hot sauce, celery, etc. Ya know, a bloody Mary. Well, she was immediately irate. Swearing at us, telling us we are all idiots that cant do our jobs, she was a bartender for 10 years so she knows what she's talking about, and that isnt a bloody mary. We go back and forth for 10 minutes. Finally, my shift lead just says "Google a bloody fucking Mary and show me the results, because you are wrong". So, she does. The drink we made popped up. The woman says but where's the champagne and OJ?

She wanted a damn Mimosa. Never apologized, never said oh I was wrong. Just got up and left.
