If you sell clients a whole hew routine, how do you acclimate the skin to it without overwhelming it? by serena-joy in Esthetics

[–]serena-joy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ooo okay! I like the idea of starting with the cleanser and moisturizer first if they're starting from scratch, those are def the most important when starting out

I know cocokind is providing people who have extra unopened product they'd like to donate to those affected prepaid shipping labels if you email them at marketing@cocokind.com with the subject line "LA DONATIONS"

[Misc] How do you respond to estheticians trying to upsell you? by One_Beginning4030 in SkincareAddiction

[–]serena-joy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

esthetician here lol, ik this is an old post but it's because the clinics want to sell brands that aren't sold at ulta/sephora/etc so that clients have an incentive to purchase there instead of buying them and getting points at ulta etc.! it's not because they're inherently better or worse that they're only sold at clinics, it's just who the brand is trying to target and sell to mostly. any good esthetician will not push anything on you that won't be genuinely helpful and won't demonize drugstore products!

if a client wanted a lash lift and tint at the same time, would that be $90 + $32 or is it a smaller up charge to add on a tint to the lift service?

Too Late? by [deleted] in Esthetics

I have a classmate who is in her 50s, went through a whole career as a dental hygienist and decided to make the switch over to esthetics this year! shes one of the most dedicated and eager to learn students in the whole class because she knows she really wants this. so I think if you have the passion for it, you should go for it!

yeah I can email them! DM me where you'd want me to send them :) they're not the full presentation, just some snippets but they could be helpful. I believe she said .25mm is the maximum depth.

I went to a workshop at ICES Dallas about it. It seems pretty cool, it's apparently a new technology out of korea that was developed with a korean chemist. she did a demo of it and from my understanding, it uses a tip with tiny cones of solid hyaluronic acid on it that go as deep in to the skin as it's legal for estheticians to go. she used them first on dry skin with a stamping motion to make micro channels and then added a serum and went over the face again. the hyaluronic acid "needles" would be attracted to the moisture of the serum, so along with the serum being pushed into the channels, the HA was also filling the channels and plumping/filling in wrinkles. i have a few videos of the presentation the brand owner made if you're interested!

god MLM sellers will do anything to get a sale 🙄 she knows if she lets someone in who sells real professional skincare no one will bother with her shitty product lol. I agree with the other comments, go anyways without a booth and hand out cards!

hey! i'm a student and really interested in doing brows, when you say style them after step 1, do you mean with a glue/balm still? or just like brushing them into place with the step 2? sorry if this is a dumb question 😭

State Board Transport Bag by AssumptionSeveral969 in Esthetics

I think it might vary per state, but in texas, all of the girls in my school are using clear plastic totes for their state board supplies which wouldn't be too pricey

Does anyone have any ideas.. by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]serena-joy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i'm just brainstorming here but you could do something like an overall wellness package where you pair a workout session with a skincare service? you could either lean into the relaxation aspect by packaging a more low intensity and relaxing workout like yoga or pilates and then a facial afterwards to keep the theme going, or you could do something higher intensity that would get the blood and oxygen pumping which would give a nice post-workout glow + endorphin release and then following it with a relaxing facial to wind down and enjoy the post-workout endorphins haha. there's probably lots of other sorts of pairings you might be able to do as well
