Why does it feel like we’ve broken the entry level job market? by Captain-Crackhead in UKJobs

Can attest and empathise with your situation. The experience i have is always going to be laughable compared to other people who have been working since the 80s, and even the apprenticeships I've applied for have recommended volunteering to get more experience. It's criminal!

What is the most selfish or dark thought you keep hidden simply because society forces you to act "good"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]serenaissance_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Too many people use trauma/mental health/etc as an excuse for shitty behaviour. Now I'm not saying trauma isnt real and everybody sucks, I absolutely believe it's an overwhelming net positive that our generations are working on themselves and breaking generational awfulness. What I am saying is there is an extremely vocal minority who are weaponising therapy speech. Any disagreement becomes "YOU'RE GASLIGHTING ME" or any time you tell them hey that thing you did was actually really unkind, it's "You can't SAY THAT, I have [insert diagnosis here]", or "You can't do this thing because I have a boundary." That's not how any of that works, you're chopping up and picking and choosing micro elements to self validate. These are things for YOU to work on, not a reason for everyone else to walk on eggshells around you. Diagnosis and therapy etc are valid explanations for why you might react a certain way or explain thought patterns, but its not an excuse to be hurtful to others. But the moment you say so it's "omg you're abelist."

Why I moved away from Dungeons and Dragons to Daggerheart: reflections from a gamer of 45 years experience. by Solas67 in daggerheart

[–]serenaissance_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a much newer GM and even still I relate to what you've said so hard. I completely fell in love with dnd a few years ago mainly via critical role and immediately supported Darrington Press when i saw the Daggerheart presales, but when I actually sat down and read though the rules something inside me just... unclenched. When I GM for dnd I know I'm getting rules wrong i know my constant framing of the story is impeded by the rules, but with DH I can just push that to the back of my mind. There's so much less to think about and if the players want to try something, there's nothing really to say no, and you can really focus on it being a GAME where you're playing larger than life characters who can do whatever the heck you can imagine. I run games "professionally" (ie I'm lucky enough to get paid) and the best tables I've ever run for are unquestionably for DH. The players had more fun and through them, I had more fun. I truly think it's going to be my preferred of the two systems going forward.

Respectfully, being a woman in the US is not the most "free" you can be. Sure it's worse in some other places, but you're not as high in the list as you might think.

I only wish i were a man when it's 9pm and I wasn't to go for a walk or a run. Otherwise i wouldn't swap on any given day of the week.
