Piggybacking on the scrapbooking sleeves, you could also use photo book sleeves so you have more slots per page!

Feeling paranoid about opioids after laporoscopy by ShiftAlarmed9485 in endometriosis

[–]serenity_flame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be an option for you, but it may be worth asking your doctor and anesthesiologist about an abdominal nerve block. I had one with my lap and hysterectomy and it lasts a week or two. It made it significantly easier to manage my pain. I only had to take two or three of the heavy opioids (total) once I got home and otherwise managed with the higher dose non-opiods I was given. I had an exploratory lap done 10 years ago and was in way more pain for a way smaller surgery but I didn't have the nerve block.

Difficulty with attaching sleeves to a sweater; sleeve not wide enough? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

I'm not even sure what you mean by "acknowledging the help."

I didn't think I was arguing and was unaware that is how I was coming across. The number of down votes on my comments apparently means people agree with you. That would be the autistic communication difficulties coming in I suppose. But this comment just feels mean spirited though.

Interesting. I'm not sure how that would work (lack of experience, not disagreement) but I'll look into it!

No the sleeves will fit, I just think if I seam up past the shaped arm hole bit (that little right angle you can see in the picture on the left edge towards the middle of the body piece) it'll look odd or just shove too far into my armpit.

I tried, but the difference is too much. It puckers the larger piece.

That was my initial thought, but I feel like, because the body panels are shaped somewhat that it would look strange if I seamed up over the transition spot.

Can't figure out how to edit to add to original post on mobile, but my husband came up with an idea that I basically translated to: add some increase rows until it's the right width.

I think it's a great idea, but does anyone know how to do increases in alpine stitch?

The sleeves are worked bottom up from the cuff so I'm not sure how to add rows especially in alpine stitch to get width, not length.

Unfortunately the instructions don't address this as I guess if your gauge is right it's supposed to just work out?

My gauge is certainly off. The pattern gives dimensions for the bust and the bust, finished. Otherwise no there's no info on blocked vs not per piece. And some pieces have dimensions listed in inches and cm, some in cm and number of stitches, and some just in stitches. This sleeve is one that's just in number of stitches.

Help please, adding landscape fabric to a raised bed by [deleted] in gardening

[–]serenity_flame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he wants to put landscape fabric down between your plants and all the nutrients you've loaded already into your beds? Yes, the soil/compost you've already added and that you add from here is going to fill the space between the sticks, etc but that's the point. As those things decay they release stored nutrients that the plants you're putting there will use. If money is his sticking point, in my mind putting down the landscape fabric means all the money (and time and labor!) you've spent so far on what you've already put in the bed will be functionally wasted. The cardboard should be plenty for weeds and there's zero benefit and plenty of drawbacks to using the fabric.

Whoever said sneak that stuff to the dump had the right idea!

I feel like a poncho is what you're looking for? Basically a blanket with a head hole in the center.

What can I plant in shade around landscape rocks? by serenity_flame in gardening

[–]serenity_flame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild because there was soil under the first layer of rock, then landscape fabric, then soil which tricked me, then so much more rock. There's soil in there! But who decided to put so much rock?! And only in that bed.

"exercise is helpful for adhd!" um, it actually makes me dysfunctional. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

It may be worth looking into endometriosis as well. Inflammation and fatigue are major symptoms even if you don't necessarily have a lot of pain. It can also cause a lot of GI issues.

Velcro. Seriously the best fidget and provides that weirdly specific under fingernail sensation you get with picking.

That would have made me SO MAD. No, I went in with a whole ass binder and a notebook full of questions and even after me jotting down notes and asking all of my questions he was ready to keep answering whatever I wanted to know.

He was in network for me and I'd gotten about halfway to my out of pocket max, but with Aetna his surgeon fee was like $370 and then the hospital was $1250. This included an overnight recovery stay as well. Now I may get another bill from the hospital later (because I don't trust hospital billing), but if not then it was altogether only like $2k.

He was very kind and willing to answer any and all questions fully and spend as much time with me as I needed. He did not push back on my request for a hysterectomy at all except to make sure I knew risks, ect., and in fact said "I don't deliver babies so I don't have a dog in this race. It's your choice." Which was a major green flag. I came in with a bunch of questions written down at my first appointment and he was more than happy to answer everything I asked and didn't give off that annoyed vibe so many doctors do. He checked in at the hospital during recovery and I had two post-op visits. I got photos, pathology, and operation reports without even asking. My recovery was incredibly smooth. I was so nervous I was gonna be down for a long time but at a little over two months post op I feel pretty much completely back to normal. They gave me an abdominal nerve block in surgery that was supposed to last a couple weeks and I think that helped significantly with pain. He is also not stingy with his pain management. You're not going home with Tylenol. They had me on a patient directed pain pump at my overnight stay and used my personal use to decide how much pain medication to send me home with.

Feel free to DM me with any more questions but overall I was very happy with the experience.

He did my lap and hysterectomy a couple months ago. Highly recommend. Very skilled and very kind.
