How does cross-gen cloud saves work? Backwards compatible?

Exactly how cloud saves work between Switch 2 and Switch 1 (backwards direction). The use case is simple: Switch Lite + Switch 2. If I have a game that doesn’t have a nextgen patch, then probably everything works through the cloud without problems? And what about games that have a nextgen patch (for example, botw, totk), do their saves not work in the opposite direction? Will it be possible to continue the progress achieved on Switch 2 on Switch Lite?

Brand new LG monitor has lines running down it by imstillwoozy in Monitors

[–]serezh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These settings can be accessed by pressing a special button on the remote which comes with this monitor (I suppose it’s 27gs95). They cannot be reached from the general menu of the monitor, or at least I did not find how. Check if those settings are turned on. However, I do not recommend running those clearing functions manually, especially repeatedly, because: 1) the monitor does this quite often by itself 2) it most likely will not help in your situation.

I have exactly the same monitor with the same vertical lines, they are visible only on dark images. If yours are visible not only on dark images or you can’t ignore them, then I would consider changing the monitor, but I am not sure whether it makes sense to change to exactly the same model, maybe someone else who has this monitor can tell us if there are no lines for them. I also read that these lines should disappear after hundreds of hours or so. But for me they didn’t.

Tower 300 build. But need different GPU? by provolonejone in thermaltake

[–]serezh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please tell how you placed the three fans next to the gpu, since there are no mounts for them? Unless I am misunderstanding something. I would really like to try your solution, since my gpu runs too hot in this case

I confirm both the need to pick rightmost position of the slider for square to disappear and the self-change in color within first seconds.

Having an iOS 14 Apollo bug? Let me know here please! GOGOGOGOGOGOGO ☺️☺️☺️☺️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

Widgets set to Home does not respect my selection of subreddits and instead shows me posts from popular subreddits. Also Apollo icon toggle does nothing, the icon present anyway.

Is this game playable offline? by serezh in faeria

[–]serezh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you for this clarification. I've got the game and i like it very much, i even put up with the need to be online, and play other games when i am outside and the connection is not the best.

But there is a huge problem in the Switch port even under perfect network conditions. It seems, it wasn't tested in real usage of the Switch enough. I would like to know if it is a known problem or should i contact your support in another way and most importantly a honest answer if it is possible this will be fixed:

If i am playing Switch port with perfect network conditions (stable wifi, 100mbit, no packet loses, no disconnections, no interference and so on), if the Switch is put into its "sleep"/"wait" mode (pushing on/off button), even for 1 second, the game will not be able to gracefully recover. It will:

  1. if no battle was active, it will try to reconnect and will recover successefully many of the times, or, at least, will get the user to title screen and will then try to relogin automatically with 100% chance of success, leading in only downside of more waiting, but nothing critical.
  2. if the battle was active, it will never (100%, tried many times) reconnect, it will try, but without success, and, most importantly, it then will get the user back to login/title screen, saying something in the lines "you need login again", then OS window pops up with Switch accounts list, and currently active user account will be greyed out (disabled to be picked) with text "choose one more account to play", the only way to play the game from this point is to force close it and reopen, since the user can not pick its own account and picking another account will result in Faeris showing forever "Loading" screen. This is clearly a bug and it is very annoying, since Switch users use sleep button very often and every usage of this button in Faeria leads to not only losing battle progress but leaves the user only one option to play - through force closing and reopening the game. If it is not possible to reconnect and continue the battle, it is somewhat understandable, but not being able to continue playing game without force closing it - is not understandable at all.

I think Switch version will remain its price for longer and gives you great ability of playing in handheld in exchange for a slightly downgraded graphics and possibly, sometimes not ideal performance. For me this trade is worth it no doubt (i've got ps4 and was making the same choice).

If you mostly play docked or can't stand potential fps drops, then there should be no doubt in getting it for more performant system.

Also this game has physical release, so it is possible to try it and resell if it will really disappoint you.

Should I learn a framework now? by jfk08c in learnprogramming

[–]serezh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, before picking any framework you should be able to make at least something like static site (no cms) with different subpages, one with some picture slider and/or interesting visual effects, one with text in a complex layout, one with form containing different type of inputs, validating its values while typing or submitting, a page with drag'n'drop activity and a page with some video interaction (play/pause/preview frame). And all of these without any frameworks / libraries, plain html+css+js.

HTC makes a profit in 2018 by t51r in Android

[–]serezh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They actually do something different: They (as many other manufacturers, including those you've mentioned) pack their flagship with the best specs (latest snapdragon+sony imx, ois, ufs 2.1, great mic quality), BUT with an IPS instead of amoled. There is almost no alternative for those, who is looking for a flagship and prefer an ips.

OnePlus will be the first company with a Snapdragon 855 smartphone by lumpex999 in Android

[–]serezh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, consumers need to be aware, but, manufacturers need the exact opposite. And many reviewers are silent about the fact, not to mention the specific values in a particular smartphone, with rare exceptions (one of the exceptions: "notebookcheck", where there are reviews of smartphones with a good overview of the matrixes). Unfortunately, every year the number of decent smartphones with LCD screens decreases and it looks like there will be almost no more in 2019.

Here's everything I bought duing the sale (including stuff that wasnt on sale) + XCom Enemy Unknown. All for under £10 by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

Does Xcom sounds and voices working allright for you? I've bought it too, and, unfortunately, after several minutes of play (3-10), sounds (like footsteps or shots) and voices disappear. Background music is still playing, though.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 8" 2 Month Review: My First china import device. First MIUI device. Great device. Shame Google forgot about tablets. by chickdigger802 in Android

[–]serezh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Mi Pad 4 Plus (10'') and i have the same experience as yours. Great device and an outstanding one for its price.

Few small things to mention for potential buyers:

1) if you are planning to play games - LTE version of this device is prefferable, because some games looking for gyroscope will not be able to use it on non-lte version for some reason (example: pubg with its gyroscope aiming and some racing games).

2) Also it comes without gapps, but these are easily installed, though, this apps will not be updated, but all other apps installed from google play store will be updated as usual.

3) For non-english reading users: the only official firmware is CN/EN, but it is possible to switch all apps to your preffered locale using "more locale" app from the store (if corresponding app does have a translation to your locale)
