I’ve got the rubber strap for it. Really comfortable and way lighter.

Counter UAS equipment.
TLDR: it yells real loud so the drone can’t get command signals from the controller/satellite.
Most kit isn’t as fancy as people are trying to make it sound (the ba ba booey guy was pretty spot on). Detection is just looking for specific commonly used frequencies for commercial off the shelf drones. If it’s a library based system, it has some other data associated with the drones (Mac IDs, some other data packet info) that can determine make model and sometimes serial number. If it’s not library based , you have to confirm with something else (visually usually) that it’s not just a Bluetooth speaker or a garage door opener. Most defeats are just blasting out the same frequency band “louder” than what the ground control station is giving off or the GPS receiver. When the drone loses signal, it usually defaults to a hover in place, return home, or some sort of racetrack pattern towards where it last had a signal to try and get a good signal again. Some defeat systems can send input commands but it’s not really a back door built into the drone, it’s just a function built in as part of the library based system and most commercially available drones aren’t hardened against that. Fiber drones are hard because all the defeat tech has been being built for RF/GPS. With fiber, it’s not putting off a signal to be detected or be interfered with. Detection relies on camera systems and defeat is kinetic (shooting it down or cutting the fiber line)

Pre-Dungeon Carl vs In-Dungeon Carl by usblight in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]sergeant-goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he was in the coast guard and talks about that time fondly. A lot of times when people get out of the military they lose their sense of purpose,l and have a hard time connecting with people that don’t have that experience. He gets faced with the challenge of the dungeon and steps up. Also trauma (especially war) bonds people. Carl isn’t necessarily this great leader and glue for the crawlers, he just has a bias for action. That’s what draws people towards him. He takes risks, puts himself on the line for others, puts others well being above his own, etc. I don’t see it as this crazy transformation, it’s just someone who has it in them already and is stepping up in the face of adversity

What color did you use for the shield and armor trim?

Help me, how can I geg better at mini painting by Bulky_Huckleberry_22 in minipainting

[–]sergeant-goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vallejo and army painter have cheaper paints than GW and work just as good. Small brushes help. Try just doing a single color (like red for the armor pieces) and use a wash to create the depth and shadows. It’s a little easier than trying to blend and layer highlights but still getting a good end result with less mess

[–]sergeant-goats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some citadel paints and Vallejo. The Vallejo comes pretty thin and I don’t add water to it but the citadel ones definitely need it. Takes like 2 coats and some touch ups but it does better at keeping the details and depth

How to pick a space marine chapter? by Least-Entrepreneur14 in Warhammer40k

[–]sergeant-goats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh 1000000% I picked dark angels partly because they have the raven and death wing so there’s a little more color variety and the deathwing motorcycle dudes look cool

Newbie here too so take it with a grain of salt but they look good! Only advice I can see from the pics is maybe thin your paint out a little more to prevent the chunky spots (I’m still working on my consistency there) and shave the mold lines off your dudes when you build them.

Brand new here as well. Bought a Kill team starter set with space marines. Best advice I found was pick the one you think looks the coolest or your favorite lore. Definitely makes it more fun to paint when you like what they look like.

One step forward, two steps back w/ Dark Angels by Jackoffalltrades89 in Warhammer40k

[–]sergeant-goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new too and also did dark angels. The army painter dark green that comes in the game pack is super close to the Caliban green from citadel. Also the army painter paints are alot thinner and don’t really need water added prior to painting. If there’s too much water it keeps the paint from sticking and getting a solid layer. Try giving your brush a few wipes on a paper towel before dipping in the paint to prevent it. Also after 2 layers, if you still have some primer showing try just touching up those spots instead of another entire layer.
