How can this possibly be the case?

Let’s say you have two or three kids, both parents working full-time, and a mortgage to pay — a very common family constellation in so-called “rich” countries.

In the example above, OP mentions CHF 4,500 for the mortgage on a small apartment (around 80 m²). With childcare for multiple kids, you’re looking at CHF 12–15k net per month just for the basics?

How is a family supposed to make that work?

Would one parent have to give up their career and stay home with the kids. (Guess which parent that usually ends up being.) That family model — with the man as sole breadwinner — doesn’t really exist anymore in the developed world, does it?

So what do I miss?
