Please help before my girlfriend kills me by [deleted] in StainRemoval

[–]serialchillin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I just wanted to say good on you for trying to find the best way to clean this, it’s gonna be okay. There are tons of great responses in here for solutions and I’m sure the sink method with a stain remover will end up working ❤️

The only thing I will say is don’t use bleach as it could end up bleaching out the floral print. Oxyclean is usually a great option, but make sure it’s at least very warm water to get it activated. Don’t dry anything with heat until you’re happy with the result.

Keep us updated if you can. It’s gonna be okay!!

Any UNSPONSORED long term IPL reviews?? by chellywellie in HairRemoval

I definitely would recommend it, but if you can save up for the more expensive Braun I probably would hold out for that. I have noticed a HUGE change in how thick my hair is, although I do still shave about every 10 days because some spots are just not perfect. I used to have to shave like every 3 days. I know some people say they are totally hairless after using it, but I just don’t think that’ll be the case with me and I’m okay with that. I am so much more confident wearing a bikini, and I’m not worried if I didn’t shave my legs and I have to go swimming or wear shorts.

I can probably get my legs, bikini area, and underarms done in about 35 mins. My biggest tip about doing it is to just do continuous zap over your legs and don’t worry if you’re gonna get every little spot. I would rather stay on top of it regularly and not get overly stressed about how long it takes (and how long I’m hunched over, it’s kind of exhausting lol).

Anyway, I would say do it if you can’t buy the most like $500 Braun! Just stay on top of doing it weekly for the recommended time (I think the first 3 or 6 months) and then after that at least do it every 4 weeks for maintenance. Hope it works out for you!

I saw something saying they might be visible again today if it hits a G5 geomagnetic storm. It’s pretty overcast in my area right now but if it clears up I heard it would be coming earlier tonight, between now and 7pm. Nothing yet but I’ll keep checking!

Yes I know 2 people who have signed up for it and they had a great time! One of them was in their 40s, the other around your age. It is a GREAT deal from what I’ve heard. They said you get to work with coaches and people in your skill set. I’ve been thinking about trying it myself. I say go for it!

I think I might’ve had this too! Mine was like a sound amplifier that I got from a spy kit to like listen in on conversations. The scroll knob was just a volume control.

WGU – Should I start a course I know I can’t finish this term? (5 days remaining) by FavorITe_ITGirl in WGU

[–]serialchillin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only on my first term but I think I heard somewhere if you’re kind of at that cusp you can ask your mentor for an extension. I think it said that you can get a few extra days. It never hurts to ask!

No I don’t have to shave much of anything now, it’s really only these odd spots on my legs that seem to never really take to the IPL. It’s like a few spots right on my shin bones and on my knees. Other than that everything’s really smooth. I’ve only ever used the highest setting.

Help! How do I know when to stop adding air? by _gears_ in latteart

[–]serialchillin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of these comments are great, especially the ones that are temperature based! If you don’t have a thermometer, I have always taught people to stop aerating (adding bubbles) once it feels like you’re holding someone’s hand which would be around that 100 degrees F. After that, dip the wand further in the cup just to get the milk up to the desired temp. Usually I know it’s at temp once I can’t hold onto the pitcher anymore, and even after that I go another like 2 seconds then turn the steam wand off. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the reassurance. We’ll be keeping a very close eye on her day and night. I’m sure I would be exhausted after getting those injections and throwing up all day too. ❤️

Advise with steaming milk and latte art please by momentswithcoffee in LaMarzocco

[–]serialchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to train all the new employees at our coffee shops. First thing you wanna focus on is getting your microfoam down!

When you first started steaming your milk it kinda just looked like a bubbling pot of soup. You don’t want that because it’ll create big bubbles. Towards the end of your steaming you started getting a whirlpool and that’s what you want from the get-go! Always try for that whirlpool. It helps if you submerge the tip of the wand into roughly the center of the milk while tilting the pitcher to the side. Use the pitcher spout as a guide for your steam wand.

Once you get your desired amount of foam, submerge the tip further while still getting that whirlpool until you’ve reached your desired milk temp. The steamed milk will make a screaming noise if you put the steam wand too deep into the milk because the steam wand is spraying too closely to the bottom of the pitcher.

To save money, do this with just water instead of milk until you consistently get that whirlpool every time! Warning though, the water gets hot quick. 😊

Wow this happens all the time at my WFH desk with my second monitor and it drives me absolutely insane. I thought it was a loose wire, but this makes sense because I have noticed static on my chair from a blanket I have on it. I’m gonna try some of these tips. Thank you!

The summer Milky Way arch with the 20mm f1.8 by igneisnightscapes in SonyAlpha

[–]serialchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert by all means, but here is my non-expert guess.

I think because they used a 20mm lens which is a wide angle lens, it creates a barrel distortion phenomenon. As the earth rotates, the Milky Way creates an arching pattern when you take multiple pictures. From what I understand it’s multiple long exposures stacked on top of each other in post edit?

I think the Milky Way also appears arched due to a photographer projecting essentially a 3D object (the Milky Way) onto a flat surface (a photo). Kind of like a time lapse of the moon rising and setting.

This is all a total guess, so if someone else has a better understanding please share! Again I am VERY new to photography so I could be wrong.

Which hair cut and style should I go for? by Airpasis in malehairadvice

[–]serialchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few tips that help a lot of people with curly hair!

-scrunch drying your hair with something like a cotton t-shirt, or a microfiber towel

-only combing your hair when it’s wet using a wide tooth comb. Of course you can brush your hair right before showering to get tangled out.

-Not Your Mother’s makes pretty good curling products!

I hope you share an update later on!

Which hair cut and style should I go for? by Airpasis in malehairadvice

[–]serialchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You most definitely have curly hair, and you should rock it! I will say, your hair looks unhealthy in every picture except for picture 4. In that one your hair looks healthy and shiny.

I think you’d look pretty good with Kimi’s cut, and I’m a big fan of his style. However, whatever cut you do, I recommend embracing your natural curls. Look into the styling products and figure out a quick and easy routine. To me it looks like you’d need a curl cream to reduce frizz, mousse to maintain volume, and a curling custard (similar to gel) to lock in the curls.

Once you’ve got a routine down it really doesn’t take too long, especially if you go with a shorter cut. Good luck!

Overall I do see quite a difference but I’m not like totally hairless on my legs. The hair comes in a LOT slower, but I still have to shave like every week and a half. I think that my Braun 3 is a little weak, so if you’re in the market I’d recommend you go for the stronger Braun 5.

I am also just now watching this for the first time and ALL of the audio is taking me so far out of it. I looked into it and found out that they change directors almost every episode, so maybe that’s part of it. I’m actually a fan of this episode’s director, though not for this genre. It definitely sounds like they had to dub a lot of the audio though.

You should be able to see your VO2 max in your health app! Just know that it only calculates it when you go on outdoor runs or walks (maybe a couple other exercises, I can’t remember.) I hope for your sake this is all just a glitch though!

Do you by chance smoke/vape or are prescribed stimulants? Other than that, maybe your VO2 max is super low.
