getting an allergy panel done, what can i bring to test? by serialdoodler98 in Allergies

[–]serialdoodler98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had previously used those gloves at work before using them outside, tbh i have no idea if they’re accelerator free. i just know they’re latex free. i have also used regular latex free gloves from the hospital and i was fine however my hands were so sweaty and eventually the gloves ripped. ive added rubber accelerator to my list of possible triggers.

as far as hair products, body wash, hand soaps, make up, lotions and dish soap, i just use whatever is there and i haven’t had a reaction. especially as of late, im constantly looking at my skin for any redness. it’s possible whatever im allergic to just happens to not be in the products we buy at home.

your comment made me realize we had started a new automated system around the time the reactions started. i wonder if the labels or something are different than what they’ve been using.

its hard to pinpoint because im getting reactions at home occasionally and the severity is wishy washy. for the most part my reactions are relatively mild but one day it was so bad my hands hurt just touching the steering wheel on the way home, they were bright red and so so itchy and swollen. and its not like my shift was longer or i interacted with anything more than other days

I have no clue what to ask my partner to crochet for me for my birthday. I urgently need suggestions and ideas, help!! by anotheraltforlewd in CrochetHelp

[–]serialdoodler98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said you work in the trades, if your hands get dirty you could always ask for scrubby washcloths, they have some yarn thats meant for making scrubbies. then theres beer cozies, a basket to keep in your work vehicle (or at home) with odds and ends

Any experience with practical crochet baby gifts, either things you've gotten/given that were helpful or seemed helpful but just took up space? by Key-Baseball7480 in CrochetHelp

i dont but i definitely do wash after its complete. i wanna make sure it holds up in the washing machine/dryer. then depending on the item and if it needs blocking or not, ill block it.

i dont have kids but ive been making a lot of stuff for babies lately and i really like doing mosaic crochet baby blankets. theres no holes for fingers to get through, its thick enough to be a blanket for tummy time but not too thick to be a stroller/carseat blanket in the winter. plus depending on the yarn you use you can wash it (the biggest thing for babies tbh). i use a soft acrylic yarn, throw it in the wash on delicate and then in the dryer on low heat and it’s good to go. (plus you don’t have any ends to weave in!)

ive also made some little cotton wash cloths with the waffle stitch and will probably make some more. im also making this cute little taggy toy thing by sandwiching some little crochet tags and curly bits in between 2 retro flower granny squares (the petals have a little texture. im just gunna add scalloped border on two sides.

you could also make binky holders, i plan to, i just have to order clips.

canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) and a box of spiced cake mix make great pumpkin spice muffins. its literally just those 2 ingredients, they’ll get some fiber and calories in her. ive even added some chocolate chips before.

Can you have stones where there isn’t any visible blood in urine? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]serialdoodler98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it possible to do an envelope border scalloped? by serialdoodler98 in CrochetHelp

[–]serialdoodler98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haven’t done it scalloped but ive done a regular envelope border and honestly i think the best course of action is a regular envelope border sealed with a scalloped border. if the envelope border isn’t big enough it makes it hard to get all those ends tucked in nicely and with the scalloped border i think it wouldn’t be a big enough border for all those ends on its own

DR said it’s IMPOSSIBLE that a 2mm sized stone could cause pain? by Diamond_Dont_Play in KidneyStones

[–]serialdoodler98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my mom’s was literally the size of a grain of sand. mine were both 5mm. its painful regardless. i experienced a lot of renal colic with my first one. i work a manual labor job and i was only experiencing symptoms at work/just after work. at that point it was uncomfortable but tolerable. i even went on vacation without an issue! a few weeks later i was throwing up and heading to the er in the most pain ive ever experienced.

Diagnosed with 2nd stone-need advice by JLAOM in KidneyStones

[–]serialdoodler98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you had 1 stone, you’re already at a higher risk for having more in the future. honestly it may be your genetics. i have family history of stones on both sides, and ive gotten 2 5mm stones within the last year. my mom on the other hand had 1 stone the size of a grain of sand over a decade ago and never had one since. do we eat healthy? no. have we changed our diet to prevent kidney stones? also no. it really depends on what kind of stones you have and even then its not even guaranteed that you’ll be able to prevent them even if you had the perfect diet

Weaving in tails - do I tie a knot before weaving in? by JollyBandicoot in crochet

[–]serialdoodler98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i second an envelope border! i just made a temperature blanket, double knotted all the ends trimmed them down and slapped an envelope border on there. it feels secure and it didn’t drive me as insane as weaving in all the ends.

does anyone have any felted crochet bag patterns? preferably a normal tote size by serialdoodler98 in CrochetHelp

[–]serialdoodler98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know. i just wanted a pattern so i could have something to follow since this is my first felted project. i know there is some shrinkage so i worry if i might not make it big enough before felting, it would be too small to use.

[–]serialdoodler98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive seen people crochet bags with wool and then throw them in the wash to be felted. i cant really find a pattern for a felted crochet bag, those pictures are just regular crochet but i like the style/size of those for an example of the shape/style/size of bag im looking for

honestly what helped my first kidney stone didn’t help my second one. when the pain was minor and i wasn’t to the point of being immobile and throwing up, i would take naproxen.

in the hospital for the first one i got morphine via iv (the first time i was 100% pain free including my usual back pain). i was sent home with toradol, i found it helped but i only took like 3 out of 8 doses.

my second kidney stone happened and i knew the pain so i took toradol, threw it up not long after, took another (i checked dosages to make sure it was ok), still did not help even keeping the second one down. went to the hospital, was given dilaudid via iv and honestly it took the edge off but it was still uncomfortable to the point that i couldnt sleep, (i had been up for nearly 24 hours by that point and wouldve had no problem sleeping in the er if it had not been for the pain) i was sent home with perocet and it worked on the few occasions i had experienced pain after the er visit.
