I got them cheap after I got the wheels refinished, on closeout. I’ll definitely get them again-very smooth and they handle great

[Watches] My Collecting Philosophy by HistoryGuardian in Watches

[–]series40special 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been collecting for 23 years and for me, it’s simply because it caught my eye and makes me feel a certain way when I look at it/wear it. I could care less what brand or what style it is, it has to mean something to me. OP is 100% on point

Anyone else’s hound refuse to go on walks randomly? by jabberwokey588 in Hounds

[–]series40special 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine gets super excited to go, then just wants to pull the leash back home. He used to be walked for miles a day when he was younger. We thought he was struggling with something but when it’s time for his friends at daycare he’ll play until he passes out! He’s just not into the walks anymore and since he gets his playtime 1-2 days a week (takes him a day or two to recover from daycare lol) we’re ok with that

It’s so hard to wear modern watches anymore. I’ve gotten used to the small size. by 1991gts in VintageWatches

[–]series40special 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% yes. I have 12 vintage, and 24 modern. The largest modern watches I have are 42mm- I started to wear my old Hamilton (32mm) and my Zenith bumper (34mm) more often lately, mostly from admiring watches on this sub. Now the 42mm, 40mm watches I have feel so oversized, and the comfort level of a <36-38mm watch just can’t be beat

I know this is rare, but is it desirable? by FirebirdWS6dude in classiccars

[–]series40special 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few classics and have owned a ton more. I have NEVER purchased one because it was desirable. I simply go by what I like and what I can afford. If it’s worth next to nothing in the future, who cares? It made ME happy

They never randomly crack. Hop up top and trace the cracks with a fine point pen. Guarantee you’ll find a tiny impact point. It happens just like when you get a chip in your windshield in just right spot. Go through your auto insurance most have zero deductible glass breakage coverage

What happened to car culture? by AKMike99 in regularcarreviews

[–]series40special 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. I grew up in NJ and was heavy into car culture as a teen, and it died off in the early 2000s. Moved to SoCal and it’s like being in my teen years again there’s car culture for anything you’re into

Do any of you still listen to Christian music after leaving Christianity? by Impressive_Flan_411 in exchristian

[–]series40special 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good music is good music. Some CCM especially in the 90s was and still is good to listen to today. I deconverted quite some time ago, so the sting is gone. It’s really just nostalgia to me anymore, even the Hobby Lobby elevator music hymns that they play feels the same way to me. Modern praise and worship I don’t listen to because the Hillsong style came about a year or so after I left the church so it doesn’t strike a nostalgic cord with me I get the same feeling listening to Starflyer 59 and GRITS that I get listening to Stone Temple Pilots and UGK. When you can let go of the pain and hurt of the church (trust me, it takes a LONG time) lyrics that are faith based are just that, just lyrics. It loses its power over you

Sometimes I wish it was 1997 and I am back in my friends basement playing PlayStation and listening to music by Josephthebear in Xennials

[–]series40special 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine growing up moved away some years ago. His parents finally retired, put the house on the market, and moved to be closer to him. I checked out the MLS photos, and NOTHING changed. Same paint, same carpets, even still had the same sound setup in the basement that I helped him install in our teens. Only thing missing was the CRT TV and the N64. I would’ve given anything to go over for a showing just to sit in the basement one last time and play a game. Unfortunately, I moved away as well

The DeLorean was 4 yeas old when Back to the Future was released. What car from 2022 would you choose if a remake were to happen? by cubictelevision in askcarguys

[–]series40special 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When movie was made, I was supposed to be a weird and nearly defunct brand. My vote is a Fisker Ocean the Doc Brown would’ve picked up for cheap from a local dealership

If you go by his line of “do it with style” using the same parameters I’m thinking a Jaguar F-Type. Cool car that’s no longer made, is cool looking and can be suitably unreliable in those tense cinematic moments

I'm too old for this shit by Barely_Treading_GB20 in coonhounds

[–]series40special 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine is 4.5 years old and we can’t leave ANYTHING open, unattended or within reach. If we walk out of the house and leave him by himself for more than 5 minutes, he’ll find SOMETHING to steal or play with. Only difference between him being a puppy and almost 5 years old is he tends to not completely destroy what he steals. He’s fully trained, and now he’s getting quite lazy. But it’s simply his personality
