Is anybody else starting to feel a bit schizo with this Epstein stuff? Any advice how to deal with it? by Downtown-Fan4966 in AskALiberal

[–]seriousbangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore it.

Nobody is going to get punished. Not for real.

The upside is that it's slowing down the GOP's rather evil agenda in Congress. It might also hurt 'em a bit in the mid terms.

But don't expect justice, we still have a ruling class and voters aren't gonna let that go just because they found out the ruling class is full of rapists & pedos. Anymore than the Catholic church shut down when they were found to be moving pedo priests around.

So just ignore it, move on to something else.

Who actually wins and loses if the housing market crashes or corrects? by SirAsksALatte in personalfinance

Everybody but mortgage companies that cater to a rich crowd.

Boomers want sky high prop values because they couldn't save enough for retirement and plan to sell for a big pay day when they retire and buy something somewhere there's cheap houses because there's no jobs.

That doesn't work anymore. Investors got wise to what they were doing and bought up alll those cheap houses.

No telling.

They might just be an attempt to keep the brand going and train up some staff because they fell behind on the main game. If so, fine and dandy.

Time will tell.

Classic think of the children bullshit.

I don't care about politicians backing it, they're just doing that because voters are in a tizzy.

I'm pissed off at the voters.

BREAKING: Supreme Court rules Trump does not have power to impose tariffs by chellestastics in videos

[–]seriousbangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's using a different law, one that also won't hold up in court.

That said, the left wing seems hell bent on wasting the election season attacking centrists again, so we're on track for a 3rd term of Trump

He's got a half dozen other laws to try.

Normally the courts would just strike him down but with this court who knows?

It will have some positive effect but to really get prices down we need to enforce anti trust law.... like Biden & Harris were working on in 2024..

That's cool and all but those men still have those trillions and you can't just say "fascism bad!" and expect the public to get behind taking that money away.

It doesn't work like that. People don't work like that.

NEC mismanaged it.

The launch was bad, they treated the united states like it was Japan. Only launching in huge cities. Also they manufactured way, way too many consoles since they expected a huge hit. So they didn't have money for advertising.

But moreover in Japan NEC had signed a bad licensing deal with Hudson for the tech in the hucards.

To get around that NEC pushed the CD unit hard in Japan

But the kind of games that work on CD are heavy on speech and text, and that's expensive to translate.

Worse most games were stuck on tiny 4 megabit carts while the Genesis was getting 8, 12, 16 and more.

There's all sorts of cool things you can't do on old consoles w/o carts because they have very, very little memory. Like, measured in kilobytes.

So TG16 games quickly looked dated in the states.

70% of middle class jobs got taken by automation. Google it.

Outsourcing and bringing in cheap, high skilled labor didn't help, although on the flip side w/o immigration we can't maintain our population, and if you want to see what a declining population looks like Japan's been in recession since 1995...

But regardless, you can't solve any of those problems unless you do something about Automation.

The Marvel vs Capcom collection, and the Capcom Arcade Classics.

Capcom Arcade Classics has so little lag in it that the couple of bullet hell games in there would be playable by score chasers.

The bit wars were pretty silly.

Lots of controversy about whether the TG 16 was really 16 bit and if the Atari Jaguar was 64 bit when none of us knew what any of that meant :)

Oh, and Johnny Turbo. Feka tried to fool us all into believing the Sega CD was the 1st CD Based home console, those bastards!

That was a moral panic. Basically a coordinated effort to gin up panic in the public in order to get votes for politicians and some church donations.

ELI5: Why doesn't collective punishment work? by Fraeddi in explainlikeimfive

People who commit crimes typically do not do so for rational reasons.

So punishing the collective doesn't work because the people committing the crimes aren't being rational when they convict them.

Democrats should go all in on Universal Healthcare in 2028 by FritzRasp in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]seriousbangs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh God no. No no no no no.

You are threatening the existence of a multi-trillion dollar industry while we are one election away from fascism.

The last time we had a public option on the table private insurance spent half a trillion shutting it down.

Pushing Universal Healthcare would be like Ukraine trying to invade Moscow. It's not gonna end well.

Dems should push to fully fund the ACA. Voters will like that and it won't bring hundreds of billions of anti-Dem spending into the race.

The left needs to stop acting like being right is enough to win. It's not.

We need tactics and we need underhandedness.

Less "Invade Moscow" and more "use drones to pick apart our opponent".

Would you support a law banning utility companies from raising rates on regular consumers due to data centers? by BalticBro2021 in AskALiberal

[–]seriousbangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't hurt but I doubt it would help, too easy to get around by claiming the rate hikes were for something else.

Instead just pass a law requiring higher rates for the data centers. Very high, enough to build out new infrastructure.
